Introduction to Vermont, the person
Vermont: ...so how am I supposed to start this?
Mun: Start with the basics. Name, age, etc. Likes, dislikes, you know?
Vermont: ...Format?
Mun: You can do basic or like paperwork if that’s what you want.
Vermont: ...okay.
Name: Elijah Levi Jones-Cota
I can explain my second last name later.
Representation: The State of Vermont, Formerly represented the Republic of Vermont
Kind of a long story.
Age: Well, technically my “government approved ID” says I’m 21. Mostly because, like some other states, we kicked up enough of a fuss for the feds to “up our legal age” when the drinking age was raised to 21. I certainly don’t look 21, though. Some have said I look much older, like late 20′s.
As far being around as a representation, I’ve been “a representative” since 1666, if we’re counting the French attempts at colonizing my area. If going from more permanent residence, it was in 1724, and that’s because of Fort Dummer. I’ve been around since a little after the beginning of the 1610s due to French relations with the Abenaki tribe.
Looks: Brown hair... the mun says it’s like milk chocolate but slightly darker. It’s long, last time I checked it went to about the lower part of my shoulder blades, and I keep it in a loose ponytail mid way down.
Green eyes, kind of the color of dark, polished Vermont Jade.
I’m 6′ 2″, about 188 cm for metric users.
I’m lean, kind of skinny, I guess. Don’t take that for lack of muscle, though! I work hard day and night so you better believe I’ve got a good physique!
Ahem... sorry. Force of habit getting defensive.
Likes: Nature... pretty peaceful where I live on most days.
Outdoor activities - When it’s nice out I like being outside. Winter sports also fall into this category. Hunting is pretty important to a lot of my citizens and is kind of like a “rite of passage” or family event. I guess I’m a fairly outdoorsy kind of guy.
Books - If I can’t be outside, a good book usually has my attention. The kind depends on my mood. I’ve got an odd assortment of genres now that I think about it.
Learning - *sigh* I know, I know. I’m not helping me or the rest of New England with shaking off the nerd stereotype, but honestly? I don’t care. A good education can get you far in life. I can’t tell you how many degrees I’ve gotten over the years... mostly because I’ve either lost count or probably should update a couple of them since they are pretty out of date.
Solitude - I’m a guy who likes being alone. I do have some semblance of a social life, but I prefer my own company, and don’t really talk to a lot of people, especially the states. Now that I think about it, unless they are neighbors or I’ve had some history with them, I usually don’t talk to the states outside of meetings. Certainly builds me as a reclusive, standoff-ish kind of persona, but I’m fine with that. I only let a few people get close to me, and that’s only if they’ve proven to me that I can trust them.
Dislikes: New York - We have a long, complicated history with each other and he has done things to me and my people that I can’t forgive him for. Nowadays, we don’t go at each other’s throats and have been a bit more civil about it... but make no mistake, I can’t stand being in the same room as him for too long and, though we can cooperate now if need be, I can’t forgive him for what he did to me.
Crowds - I don’t stay in city centers for too long. Even some of my “cities” are small in comparison to others around the country. Can’t stand having my personal space being invaded by people I don’t know. Kind of claustrophobic to that degree.
Ignorance/Stupidity - It’s one thing to not know something, it’s another when you are willfully ignorant or lack common sense. I have no time and little patience for people like that.
Bossy People/Attitudes - Don’t tell me what to do or how to live. New Hampshire can testify for you on how bad I get when someone tries to do that.
Vermont: Is that it?
Mun: It’s a good start. When people ask, you can elaborate or talk more then.
Vermont: ...Okay.
