Blind date (closed RP)
Miku was sitting at a table in a restaurant waiting for her blind date to show up. Why she let her best friend Rin talk her into this, she doesn’t know. Though she really has nothing better to do, so why not?

A blue haired ninja approached the queen and bows to her "your majesty, I've come from lands unknown to most people to ask for one simple thing. I wish to protect you, even if I'm shorter then every knight you have seen, I only wish to help protect the in innocence in anyway I can. I, Zachary Stygian, would find it honorable for me to finally use my water ninja powers to help protect someone or royalty." The cute ninja said as he shown true loyalty to the queen he just talked too. (He's 4'11")
Queen Darina: Taking such into consideration, I must decline your offer. As you should not give yourself to one you have briefly met, I am not to place such trust as my well being into a stranger. I do apologize if this upsets you. You understand my reasoning, yes?

“It’s not the first time I’ve been told such things. Certainly you have more business coming all the way out here than to extend greetings and sudden flattery to a stranger,” sighed the Gardevoir as she glanced offways.
Such compliments have grown so stale...
Realizing they introduced themselves to her, she saw it only fair to do so in turn, although unenthused...
“ ... Momoko. Do you need something?”

Again, it’s not like it’s up in your face about...
But...This was not subtle? Like it WAS in your face. We had an entire scene of Lily freaking out about how she didn’t want to grow up and look masculine, how she didn’t want to “look like her dad”, screaming at her dad not to call her Masao, and then literally having a heart attack when she saw her first whiskers were growing in (which is v. iffy, I can see people objecting to how slap-sticky that was, though at least a later scene confirmed it wasn’t just that, but the fact that she was extremely overworked and in poor health from pushing herself as a child star, thus tying it into the general story she had with her dad). We have Lily asserting that she’s Lily and she’s a girl, that she does not like being called Masao, the girls having an extended discussion about Lily, dealing with their feelings about the “truth” and coming to the conclusion they accept her.
This show was not being subtle. It wasn’t a blink-and-you-miss-it line. This was a large part of the episode. I mean, the only way it could have been MORE blatant was having Lily wave a trans flag and yell “I’M TRANS”. It is honestly completely ridiculous dudebros could have deluded themselves that the subs were somehow doctoring this, because the visuals alone and the fact you can HEAR her saying “I’m Lily! Not Masao!” is like. yeah.
LGBTQ things don’t HAVE TO be subtle to be good and well-written. They just have to be handled gracefully, respectfully and authentically. A character saying “I’m transgender” isn’t subtle but it is true to life. People say that all the time.
People are pissed because they’re transphobic. Whether it was subtle or how it was handled honestly has little to do with it. They see a trans character in an anime that’s treated sympathetically, ultimately accepted, and is an actual part of the lovable cast rather than a walking punchline and they can’t stand it.
