‘Talk to me’
He would have to say that. Especially now, just after her talk with her sister. Damn you Erin, she thought as she stood there in front of Leonard, fidgeting like a ninny. Turning quickly, she shut and locked the office door. Her little sister may have threatened her into this admission, but she’d be damned if anyone else was going to overhear, particularly if he took it badly. Her sister’s threat rang in her ears as she lifted her eyes to meet his. If you don’t tell him how you feel, I swear, I will.
Swallowing nervously, she swore she felt her face flush as she inhaled deeply. “I have something to tell you, Leonard,” she began, cursing herself for her stupidity. Oh great, that sounds like wonderful news, you idiot. “I think I’m falling for you.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, she instantly regretted them. Not telling him how she felt in and of itself. But her poor self-esteem and fear of relationships after her disastrous break up with her ex made her question everything to do with men, even friendships. She was quite certain that he didn’t feel the same - he’d never even given her the smallest hint. She turned slightly, making it easier on herself to flee once he let her down. Christine just hoped it was gentle.
