Looking up the source of the music for this video led me down one hell of a rabbit trail. The tune is attributed to Projekt Melody, a virtual twitch and chaturbat streamer that has recieved some heat for not putting the performer behind the avatar at as much risk to creepoids as other live performers.
That framing alone, akin to other “in the name of my twisted version of fairness and justice you should suffer too” non-arguments used against, say, student loan forgiveness, should put the controversy to bed.
But then in interviews the dude who made and rigged the model for Melody talks about the risks to his business and future employment as if that is even remotely comparable to putting a real exposed body and face on the line for a living. Yikes.
And then there is that CHUD editorial going “hoes mad” bringing out the tired “fake geek girl” trope in defense for a performance of (not by, mind, of) a literally fake geek girl. That’s just rich.
