Just finished watching #thehappyprince direct by @thehappyprincemovie and starring my sweetest cinnamon rolls @colin_the_firth and Colin Morgan, along with the legendary Emily Watson. It was a beautiful, beautiful movie about the last days of the famous author Oscar Wilde, after his release from prison. I only have one word to describe it: riveting. A masterpiece of acting and coordination and directing. I was blown away by how great the lead actors were, how sincere and honest their renditions were. It's the story of a condemned love, of a friendship that could've been more but just didn't. Of a man who broke boundaries and couldn't break the hold of a poisonous love. Of a man who loved fiercely and wholely, but could never be more than a friend. It's also the story of an innocent boy who asks for a story, a story that has so many layers he couldn't understand, but he could feel. I'm amazed and blown away by Colin Morgan and his acting abilities on this movie. He was truly awe-inspiring. But what caught me was how deeply Rupert Everett was immersed in his role as Wilde, he was just magnificent. He managed to capture every facet of the notorious man, and keep him alive. The movie was so good it hurt, and by the end, my eyes were tear-swollen, and my heart was shattered by all the underlying sadness and sense of doom. Top Ten “The Happy Prince” Premiere Expressions...

Yes I’ve just seen “Translations” for the seventh time and I think the only appropriate thing to do right now is to pick my top ten expressions, as delivered by Colin Morgan and caught on camera, at the London premiere of The Happy Prince. (Good God I’m sad). That’s the obvious thing to do isn’t it?

So here we go...

1) The “You’re Oscar’s downfall” face...

If I didn’t adore Colin Morgan enough he only went and got defensive about Bosie when a reporter suggested he was responsible for Oscar’s downfall. His expression was not dissimilar to my own. As Colin so rightly pointed out... “there are many factors”. 

2) The “No I’m not doing another series of Merlin” face...

Well at least then you’ll have enough time to return to your true calling... Nathan Appleby in a ten-part second series of The Living and the Dead (that reminds me it’s about time I wrote another letter of complaint to the BBC. Dear BBC, why aren’t I watching The Living and the Dead series two?). 

3) The “I’m beginning to remind you of your ex and that’s annoying” face...

Definitely not going to expand on that from fear of acknowledging the similarity.

4) The “Becca’s not here too is she? I thought she was kidding” face...

I’m trying not to take this all personally but I didn’t get a single glimpse of ya.

5) The “Don’t ya wish your girlfriend was hot like me” face...

I do Colin. I do.

6) The “Will someone just tell me where the Donnelly twins are” face...

*whistling*

7) The “Is it true that blonde’s have more fun” face...

Ah Bosie, it was fun for all of five minutes wasn’t it? BUT SOME OF US HAVE TO WORK!!!!!!

8) The “I’m a Happy Prince” face...

Yes you are Colin. A Prince thou art.

9) The “Christ I’ve left the iron on” face...

I pray that Colin would know I’m quoting A Bit of Fry & Laurie here. Otherwise we’re just never gonna work.

10) The “We’re never gonna work Becca so wake up to reality” face...

Dammit. Reality sucks.
