“Is this not the cutest little boutique you’ve ever seen?” Winnie asked. It was the kind of question that could have been rhetorical, but she probably would have expected a response. “Let’s go in, little Harmony,” she suggested, with a kind smile. For some reason, Winnie couldn’t prevent herself from adding some kind of cutesy adjective before saying Harmony’s name, and had taken to calling her “dear” and “sweetie.” At one point on their way to the dress shop “honeybun” slipped out, and Winnie worried that maybe she was overdoing it. Presently she touched Harmony’s shoulder and motioned for her to step inside. “We’ll have so much fun. I’m kind of an expert on this sort of thing.”
