An Alvardo Negredo brace was cancelled out by two Leicester penalties on a disappointing afternoon for Middlesbrough. But a controversial handball decision led to the first of two penalties, with Mahrez and then Slimani levelling the match to share the spoils in a relegation six-pointer. Elsewhere Divock Origi and James Milner gave Liverpool a much-deserved win against Sunderland in an extremely one sided game at Anfield, while a Charlie Mulgrew volley gave Blackburn Rovers an unexpected win over Newcastle United at St James’ Park. An underwhelming day for north-east football was capped off with Hartlepool losing 2-0 away at Wycombe Wanderers while Gateshead’s eight game unbeaten run was emphatically brought to an end with a 3-0 defeat to Woking.
