Sometimes I question my voice when those with significantly larger platforms imitate my words to sell you more stuff you don't need. Sometimes I feel small because I choose not to use this platform as a means for a greater political agenda. How do we measure our growth and goodness if all we value is capitalism and clashing politics? Have we been reduced to likes, follows, and heated debates in the comment section? I truly don't care if you like and want to buy my shoes or if you disagree with my views on race and feminism. I proudly share both with you in practice over proclamation anyway. Because of this I exist in a sort of elusive dissonance. Like, I recognize and respect the more binary stance of others but personally, I avoid such thinking to resist the urge to succumb to cynicism. I've survived enough trauma to know that it is the depth of my past storms that keep me calm and compassionate. I choose to love in spite of it all. Love for self and one another is thee most radical act of rebellion. All I want to do in trying to be MY best is lift other people up: my partner, my kids, my family, my friends, and anyone who reads this and needs someone to be their champion. Because to me, that is the purpose of the human experience. That is why I share these long winded posts about my journey. May these words inspire you to keep going wherever you are. You don't have to be rooting for me but I'll still root for you to reach your highest potential. On the real, whatever you're going through, don't quit. Stand tall. Shine bright.
