Top 10 Qualities That Attract Men & Women to Their Partners
Life is busy and it can be difficult to remember or appreciate some of the qualities that originally attracted you to your partner and vice versa. So, in the introductory post of the “Resync Your Romance” summer blog series, the IceBreak Report asked 400 couples the following question: “What are 3 qualities that attracted you to your partner?”
TheIcebreak helps couples make the most of their relationship by increasing understanding, excitement, and connection in their relationships. Our app and Web site encourages better communication between partners on and off the site.
The data set for this Icebreak Report includes responses from 800 individuals in relationships; 240 of whom are married, 60 are currently engaged, 460 are in a dating relationship and 40 users identified as being in a domestic partnership.

Our male users unashamedly admitted that their partner’s appearance may have initially caught their eye. However, dispelling the stereotype “men are only attracted to looks not brains,” many of our male users stated that their partner’s intellect and personality ultimately made the men fall in love with them.

Marilyn Monroe once said “if you can make a woman laugh, you can make her do anything”, our female users, overwhelmingly attracted to their partners’ sense of humor and intelligence, supported this quotation. Additionally, they struck down the cliché “nice guys finish last,” as nearly half of their responses referenced qualities often associated with being a “nice” guy.
As a whole, our female users gave more detailed responses, often citing a specific action or event associated with the attraction.
In contrast, our male users gave more general responses. Yet when it came to singling out their partner’s favorite body parts, men were more specific than women. Lastly, men responded with a wider variety of attractive characteristics resulting in a higher percentage of ‘other’ qualities than women.
