I’m going to be writing these (kinda) headcanons a lot more as stream of consciousness and ideas and seeing where it goes! and this is a warning I’m definitely putting on all the posts
These two we haven’t talked a great deal about yet, but I think enough that we could really establish some history between them, with Jessica being there for 5-7 years and we talked about the easy familiarity between them from that. And as the first headcanon idea, i can really see Emme latching on a bit to that really caring atmosphere Jessica gives off, whether Emme does this on purpose or not and how much you said Jessica won’t “mom” people, but still leaves plates out for Emme when she misses dinner, and that just kinda leads into a direction of informal care for each other? With Emme having plenty of respect for Jessica and what she does and tries to do, and maybe notices it more than some if she’s seen Jessica go through each of the stratums and maybe helped Jessica out a bit to in making sure she found her way around? And now making sure while Jessica looks after others, someone makes sure she doesn’t fall through the cracks, or just lets her know that someone sees it?
A second headcanon? just how often Emme might show up in the dining tent after/before hours, is probably a lot?? She’s probably not one of the people that get food portions cut, being a stratum 2, so if that did happen, it might be from an accidental outburst as an oracle, accidentally scaring crowds, and that was maybe more when she was younger – so teenage Emme possibly slipping into the dining tent afterwards, and if they don’t start knowing each other right when Jessica gets there, it could be then? And suddenly Jessica has a 15 yr in the kitchens searching for any food anyway, and a kid who realizes real quick how warm Jessica is, even if it’s not outright and even Jess doesn’t want a teenager in her kitchen?? And now Emme just misses dinner bc she doesn’t sleep a lot and when she does it’ll be when she doesn’t have clients (dinner). And she just shows up there all the time, for late dinner or not, since she’ll feel bad about all the leftovers she takes, so during shows, she’s there to keep Jess company and help with the dishes, comes in asking too many questions about food she saw on tv, wants to help make it. It’s probably a lot of things with sugar in it. Actually, always.
I’m trying to think of something that could add some tension in the relationship for third headcanon, whether accidental or anything they’re not aware of but still there?? Emme’s not on the bottom rung of the stratums, but she’s not the biggest fan of those that would really enjoy the power of the top rung?? She’s known Jessica long enough to know what she’s doing, however, that she’s known each stratum, but if there’s really something that happens to divide the groups further and make it more of a power struggle, the relationship they have now could take a hit implicitly since Emme would try to be closer to the stratum 3s, and that split could come up now??? The differences in power really showing somehow
