Some more earring history. Two enameled sets, one silver wire based on a Kenyan design that appeared in Step By Step Wire Magazine, and two polymer sets. The round caned beads with mixed metal were inspired by a pair of earrings Barbara McGuire gave to me on a visit to Philadelphia. The latest in my history of earrings. A few years ago, lentil beads became a polymer clay thing. I could not make a decent polymer lentil bead to save my life. I baked, sanded, glued, drilled and filled. Nothing worked. Then I tried the same in copper. I etched metal, cut circles, dapped them into domes, filed, and soldered. And this is how I learned to make polymer lentil bead earrings. Strange but true. My parents didn't get me either. My history of earrings. These mix polymer and metal. The blue disks are mokume gane and the stripes are stripes. The metal is a combination of brass, copper, and sterling silver. I textured the washers on the sides of the earrings and domed them in a dapping block.
