We all remember how Gansey saved Ronan. But think back to the scene where Gansey is staring at the wasp/bee (can't exactly remember) and Ronan kills it. Before that, even from day one we all know Gansey doesn't like the politician life and Ronan doesn't expect him to be that guy. He can just be Gansey. So keep in mind Ronan saved Gansey too.
