I love when I tell people that I got my first (paid) job at 19 and they always try and give me shit/rag on me by saying things alluding to my class privilege (especially when they are white and jealous I am educated, well spoken and American-mexican 4th removed) and then I tell them that it was because my mom died when I was 15 and I had to take care of my 8 year old brother while my dad worked and then they act like I’m trying to win the struggle Olympics instead of reflecting on their own insecurities that made them take the conversation that way to try and put me down in the first place
