The guy looked familiar, and Adam couldn’t exactly place why. Which meant it was either someone from his past, but not a close enough friend that he remembered them. Or it was someone Michael knew, and the way Michael was looking at him, well Adam went with that. The archangel mentioned something briefly about Castiel, or as Adam liked to call him the trench coat guy because he had never really had a good interaction with them so he didn’t think remembering the name was worth it.

“How do you know the Winchesters?” he asked simply, why not start off easy, since he wasn’t about to go through whatever memories Michael had, and he needed to make his own friends anyways.

This is, without hyperbole, the most undignified position Five has had the misfortune to find himself in, and of course it’s just his luck that Vanya would be in the room to bear witness to the entire unseemly affair, which wouldn’t have occurred at all if Mr. Pennycrumb had just stayed in the bathtub like a good dog, and let Five get all that dirt out of his fur, goddamn it!

“Vanya,” Five says, as casually as he can while he’s soaked to the skin with soap all up and down his arms, and a very wet, very squirmy dog that is a solid fifteen pounds heavier than him half in his lap with his skinny arms latched desperately around the furry neck. Which is not very casually, as it turns out. “Hi.” He leans up a little higher so he can look her in the eyes. “If you’re looking for Allison, she’s out with Klaus. Shopping.” He’s not actually thirteen, so he doesn’t wrinkle his nose, but he comes very close. “Count yourself lucky you weren’t here to get dragged along. They already tried with me and Luther.”

He shrugged, “For a beer.” He had said that before. The memory flashed before him. Sam stopping him from leaving some  house, he didn’t even know whose house. He gave the same excuse, but this time it was the truth. “Wanna come with?” he asked, instead of asking a slightly more hostile question. It was something he would have asked Sam or Dean, but Jack wasn’t them. So asking Jack if he was going to be stopped this time, wasn’t something he was going to. Not to mention, they couldn’t stop him, the situation was different. Michael was already with him.

He blinked a few times his head tilting to the side, he hadn’t, but what did it matter. It had never been a problem before. “How the hell is it relevant if I got sleep last night or not?”

“Oh, I don’t know,” Five rolls his eyes and strips off his blood-flecked blazer with a sharp jerk on the stiff, scratchy collar, “why don’t you Rumor the Commission to stop trying to murder me every ten seconds? Then we’ll talk.” Of course, he already knows Allison doesn’t have that kind of power, or at least, not so far as he knows. (Probably not so far as she knows, either, what with her adamant refusal to use her Rumors and all. A massive waste of potential, if you asked him, but Allison hadn’t asked Five, which was both unfortunate and an oversight, since he was usually always right.)

“Or, here’s an idea,” Five adds, folding the jacket neatly over his arm, “why don’t you get Klaus to stop starting a fire every time he uses the stove? Or get Luther to shut up about the moon? Then we can discuss my vices.”

Number Four’s face is smudged with running mascara.  He’s been useless in a tense combat scenario yet again; worse, he became a liability, tossed around and pummeled like a tender sack of steaks, and he’s wearing more Rainbow Brite bandaids on his bruised face than a kindergarten playground.

But then his sisters dive in for an embrace, and that face tips back, eyes rolling closed, and he vibes with it, savors it, that camaraderie that’s not contingent on perfect performance or self-weaponization. 

    “I love you guuuuuys,” he whines, on a note of pure happiness.
