Character solidifying! || still accepting!
1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?
Zoe loves both her parents, so she does love Jack. I imagine it was a lot easier for her to idolize him, and her mother for that matter, when she was a little kid. Probably couldn’t see their flaws for what they were back then, but as she got older (and definitely went through a phase where she hated them both) she started to form more realistic opinions on them. Where Jack is concerned, I feel she may have been somewhat closer with him than her mother. She’s got a fairly positive opinion of him, yet she very much treats him as an authority figure. In her DLC she seemed rather polite and somewhat timid around him and Marguerite, so I imagine she became much more obedient once she realized how useless it was rebelling against them as she did in her mid teens. I imagine the respectful tone she takes around strangers and her parents was influenced by Jack. Considering Lucas’ “fuck you!” list said that he hit him for being on his phone at the table, I imagine Zoe’s seen that side of him and wishes to avoid it but has definitely marked that down as one of the things she hates about him. As an adult, I’m sure she’s gotten irritated and frustrated over being bossed around, too, and has probably gotten into arguments with him over what she wants to do and what he wants her to do. Of course, this is all pre-game. Since Eveline came into the picture, Zoe absolutely fears her father (though a little less than her mother in that regard) and hates what he’s become. Like all her family members, he’s very much dead to her in Zoe’s eyes.
2. Their mother? How do they think of her? What do they hate? Love? What influence - literal or imagined - did the mother have?
Again, a lot of it falls under what was said about Jack. Zoe loves her mother, of course. I imagine she was probably a lot more comforting to her than Jack, but she wasn’t all too close with her, either. Granted, Zoe kept a loooot of her personal life to herself, partly out of habit and partly not to worry anybody over the bad aspects. Plus, it helped avoid arguments. So, it’s probably not from lack of trying to bond with her. Zoe loves cooking with her mother, though, and picked up all she knows about that from her. Zoe doesn’t really hate too much about her, though she did grow frustrated with the attention she gave her brother when she was younger, though I doubt she understood what was going on with that at the time. However, again, as she grew older, she probably grew more respectful and understanding of her mother. As for the influence Zoe got from her, honestly, I’m not completely sure. I’m sure she probably picked up some of her morals and ideals from both her parents, but a lot of what makes her Zoe was from outside influence and experiences. However, Zoe is absolutely terrified of her in the main verse. Granted, it’s not enough for her to not try to get the ingredients for the cure from her, but she’s very reluctant to go into the old house to get them herself after being caught by her the first couple times.
3. Brothers, sisters? Who do they like? Why? What do they despise about their siblings?
Well, she’s only got the one unless you count Eveline, and, honestly, she’d take Lucas over her any day. Which says a lot. As for what she despises about him, it’s just…a lot. Even before Eveline, she had a lot more dislike than like towards him. Considering it seems like they shared a room while they were growing up, Zoe probably didn’t enjoy living shoulder-to-shoulder with him. Granted, the small age gap probably had it that they may have been somewhat closer as children but I’m pretty sure that stopped being the case once the teenage years hit and onward. Zoe thinks he’s a smartass, cocky, and general asshole. Though, once the infection takes hold of her family, she comes to fear and hate him, too, as he’s murderous, sadistic, and becomes an outright obstacle to her and her plans for escape. All in all, she loves Lucas enough to mourn him with the rest of her family and show some concern about him when she finds him passed out on the kitchen floor in Daughters, but that relationship is 99% bad tbh.
