1. What made you decide to roleplay this muse?

Because I love her. Okay no but seriously, I think she’s awesome, and I think she’s important. She’s fun to write, and has been one of my favorites since I first read Jedi Apprentice as a child. When I decided to write her, TFA had just come out and I wanted to try rping in the SW fandom. I very briefly wrote Rey, decided that I did not like the pressure I was feeling of writing such a main canon character, and also saw that there were some people writing prequels characters. I’ve always really liked the prequels worldbuilding things; those were the books I preferred as a child, those were the stories I liked best. And I really loved Siri and her character arc and her contribution to the galaxy, so I figured I’d give her a try. I wasn’t sure if anyone would even know who she was or care at all about her, but I fairly quickly found some people who did ( shoutout to @withoutpeer who jumped into my inbox yelling about being excited about Siri less than 24 hours after I’d made the blog ) and so that’s how it happened. 

4. What made you decide on your URL name?

-ism : behavior like that of a specific kind of person          adherence to a system or a class of principles Siri, though she is a Jedi and does abide by the Jedi Code, is well-known within the Jedi Order for being a bit less traditional than most Jedi, for being a bit of a rebel. She dresses in a leather unisuit instead of traditional robes, is habitually late when called before the Jedi Council, prefers action to meditation, known for not listening whole-heartedly or unquestioningly to the Council, and is less patient than the majority of her colleagues. She abides by her set of morals and principles, and while yes she does in part adhere to the system and class of principles as set forth in the Jedi Code, she is much more defined by her principles and morals; in a sense, she follows more Tachi-’isms’ than Jedi-’isms’. Hence the url. ( Betcha thought the answer was going to be a url trend. Nope. )

5. What made you decide on your blog title?

My blog title actually is just ‘Siri Tachi’ because 1, at the time I made the blog I was clearly being uncreative and 2, also at the time I made the blog I wanted it to be easily seen who I was writing and 3, at this point I’m a creature of habit and therefore have not changed it. ;)

♧ - Does your muse have any regrets about a battle or incident they had to fight in? Has it changed them?

Oh, that’s a good question. 

Honestly the biggest one is what happened on Korriban leading directly to the death of Darra Thel-Tanis. 

For those who haven’t read Jedi Quest, what happens is, in the simplest possible explanation. ( Warning for obvious Jedi Quest: The Final Showdown spoilers if you do intend on reading it. ) 

Obi-Wan & Anakin, Siri & Ferus, Ry-Gaul & Tru Veld, and Soara Antana & Darra Thel-Tanis are on Korriban tracking Granta Omega and Jenna Zan Arbor. Tru gets injured and his lightsaber gets damaged in a battle that only the four Padawans are present for during which Anakin leaves to chase a possible lead despite his best friend just getting shot. Ferus is the only one who notices that Tru’s lightsaber is damaged, and pulls him aside privately to make Tru take a look at the damage and offer to help him fix it. Tru asks Ferus not to tell their Masters like they’re supposed to, because Tru worries that he’ll be sent back to the ship or something and he doesn’t want to not be with his Master while they’re on Korriban inside Sith catacombs. Ferus, breaking the rules for the first time ever, reluctantly agrees not to tell, saying that he guesses since it’s fixed there’s no need to say anything right now. Both Tru and Ferus forget to reset one thing on Tru’s lightsaber. ( Anakin overhears this conversation, realizes that Ferus and Tru have forgotten that step, but decides not to say anything because he’s jealous that his best friend went to Ferus for help and not him. ) 

So fast forward to the climactic battle which happens shortly thereafter. The four Masters are all at the front, with the Padawans covering the sides and back of the room. In the midst of battle, Tru’s lightsaber starts shorting out. Ferus seemingly realizes he made a mistake when fixing it, and in the midst of battle, switches lightsabers with Tru, giving Tru his lightsaber, and taking Tru’s defective lightsaber for himself, and drops back to a defensive position. Anakin sees this and debates for a second whether or not to go help. Meanwhile, Omega pops back in through a back door. Tru’s lightsaber that Ferus is using shorts out. Omega shoots at Ferus. Darra jumps to defend Ferus, misses deflecting the blast, and gets shot in the chest. 

Darra dies. Ferus feels intensely guilty and holds himself deeply personally responsible for her death ( to the point that twenty years later he’s still seen canonically narrating that it was his fault she died ) and he resigns from the Order as soon as they’re back on Coruscant.

SO. 

In addition to the death of a 16-or-17-year-old Padawan, this led directly to Siri losing her Padawan, who she was extremely close to. Ferus was like her brother, she loved him more than anyone in the galaxy, and she lost him; she let him go, and he chose to leave her. ( And prior to that mission, it had just been decided that after they returned to Coruscant he’d be taking the Trials of Knighthood. He was so close, then this happened, and he left. ) Siri regrets whatever it was that she did to shake his trust in her that he didn’t come to her when Tru’s lightsaber was damaged. She regrets whatever she’d done to make him think that if he came to her, she wouldn’t have his and Tru’s backs when telling Ry-Gaul if Ry-Gaul did want to send Tru back to the ship like he didn’t want to be. She regrets not sensing quickly enough that Ferus was in trouble when Omega aimed a blaster at him. She regrets not sensing it, not getting there fast enough, not being able to be there to protect Ferus like she should have been so that Darra wouldn’t have had to. He was her Padawan, protecting him was her job, her responsibility, and her failure to do so led to the death of a Padawan and the resignation of her own Padawan.

There are some changes in her after this, but they’re all directly tied to Ferus’s resignation from the Order, not necessarily from the actual battle itself, even though Ferus’s resignation is a direct result of what happened in battle. Siri notably never takes another Padawan after this. ( And Siri loved having a Padawan. She loved Ferus. She was a really good teacher, she loved teaching him. She worked very well in a Master/Padawan pair, and she definitely seems to prefer working with someone. But she never takes another Padawan after Ferus. ) Siri is noted to work mostly solo missions after Ferus’s resignation. ( As opposed to the five years that Ferus was with her, when she repeatedly is part of team missions -- Siri and Ferus team up with Obi-Wan and Anakin in seven out of ten Jedi Quest books, sometimes along with Ry-Gaul and/or Soara and their respective Padawans, which should give an idea of how frequently opts to accept or volunteer for team missions. ) 

So yeah, she absolutely regrets that. 

On a very different spectrum of battle/fight regrets, Siri also will always regret that she was not the one to kill Krayn: see here.

“What are you doing up at this hour?”

Qui-Gon’s head whipped up, looking for the source of the unexpected question, tense and ready for confrontation.

(One might say he was suffering from a case of guilty conscience, since he was perfectly aware that the balcony he was in was reserved for Council Members. Despite that, it was one of Qui-Gon’s favourite spot, since it had the best view over the Room of a Thousand Fountains and the indisputable pros of being free of noisy Jedi.)

However, it was no Councillor who had spoken up - it was a Jedi he didn’t know, younger than him, either a Knight or a very young Master. Probably the former.

Qui-Gon studied the stranger for a long moment, silence stretching between them. It was hard to say in the low light, but the newcomer looked more curious than offended on behalf of the Council for his intrusion, so eventually Qui-Gon shrugged and relaxed where he was sitting on the meditation mat, back against the wall, deciding he was no threat.

Qui-Gon gestured at the marvelous sight of the gardens beneath them, as if saying ‘isn’t it obvious?’ “I’m enjoying the view,” he said in a very mild tone, choosing to take the question literally. It was 3am, what did the other Jedi think he could be up to at such an ungodly hour?

“Insomnia or space lag?” Qui-Gon asked in return, with very mild curiosity. In his case, it was space lag - he’d just come back from an extended mission on Alderaan, and his body was convinced it was still early afternoon because of the time difference with Coruscant.

Does Kida from Atlantis count? She wants to do what she knows is the right thing, even if she has to go behind her father's back to do it when he refuses to see it.

Ohhhh that’s an interesting one. They definitely share the same strain of stubbornness: if they are convinced they are doing the right thing, literally no one can stop them. Nu-Uh. Just give up. Also, super compassionate.
