A shitty motel room is not where Klaus Hargreeves is going to die, he refuses. It’s not that death itself scares him, God know he’s nearly died more times than he can count without caring about it before. There’s a difference though between fading out after too many oxy and being tortured to death by a couple of freaks in bad masks. Talking to the ghosts might have given him something to use against Hazel and Cha Cha, but it’s also offered him a terrifying glimpse into his immediate future if he doesn’t find a way out of this soon. After arguing in the bathroom for a while they storm out, faces like thunder, and before Klaus has time to figure out what’s happening he’s been shoved back in the closet and the door to the room slams shut. Clearly they’re fed up of waiting for Five, or maybe they’re just fed up of him and need some air. Whatever their reason for leaving again Klaus doesn’t give himself time to think about it. The walls of the closet are pressing in on him and he can feel a panic attack at the edge of his mind. Klaus, breathe, stay calm. Ben’s voice, Klaus focuses on it, breathes the best he can ‘round the duct tape on his mouth. 

Grunting, gritting his teeth against the pain coursing through his whole body, Klaus manages to kick the closet door open. The room is still full of ghosts, Zoya Popova still ranting away in Russian, Sam the scared English guy holding out the bloody stumps where his hands used to be. Klaus awkwardly shuffles the chair forward, apologising behind the tape whenever he passes through a ghost-it feels like ice water being poured over him and he focuses on that. Focuses on anything other than the bone deep terror and whole body pain. Eventually he makes it to the window where he watches intently, please God someone-anyone. There-there, a shadow-someone walking past. Klaus screams, screams until his throat is raw and fresh tears come to his eyes with the force of it. It’s not enough, the fucking duct tape keeps his terror smothered and the shadow is moving on so Klaus does the only thing he can think to do. Closing his eyes he smashes his head against the table in front of him, desperate to attract the attention of whoever’s on the other side. Thump, pain explodes through his head. Thump, black spots dance across his vision. Thump, he screams again and tastes blood. Thump, this time he leaves his head on the table, and he sobs.
