Thank you @thelastdragonslayer for the request! It kinda went in a direction I wasn’t expecting, but I had fun with it. I hope you like it! :)

“Pacifica, look out!”

The wind was knocked from her when the Fury struck out and Pacifica hit the ground. Pacifica tried to push herself to her feet, but a pair of bony hands with jagged talons slammed into her shoulders.

“Someone could use a manicure,” Pacifica mumbled under her breath. She hissed when the nails in question began to glow orange with fire, singeing her sweater.

“Foolish girl! The Northwests will pay for their crimes, starting with you!” The Fury’s voice rattled like nuts and bolts in a blender, and her breath reeked of rotting flesh. A gnarled black hand went to the Fury’s waist, and she pulled loose a coiled whip with a snake’s head carved into its handle.

From the corner of her eye, Pacifica saw Dipper dash toward them, Wendy’s axe held back for a swing. He was knocked off of his feet by the crack of the Fury’s whip, and his axe fell out of his reach. He hit the ground with a groan and rolled onto his side at the pain.

“No one will stop my justice,” the Fury said, turning back to Pacifica with a fanged smile.

Pacifica felt her mouth go dry at the fearsome glint in the Fury’s eyes, and she struggled to get out of the firm grip. But she was no match for the creature’s strength.

“Let me go! I know my family did some bad things in the past, but I’ve been trying to make up for it. Just tell me what to do so you’ll stop hunting my family. I’ll do whatever you want!”

“It’s too late,” the Fury’s nails burned brighter, and smoke started to come off of them, “There’s no escape from my justice! What could a mere mortal like you do to make amends?”

Her gaze fixed on the talons near her throat, Pacifica came up with an idea.

“I could do your nails,” she offered.

The creature’s face contorted in confusion. “What?”

“Yeah, what?” Dipper demanded.

“I could give you a manicure. With your kind of work, torturing criminals for all eternity and whatever, your hands must get roughed up a lot.”

The sheer absurdity of Pacifica’s offer stunned the Fury enough for Pacifica to prop herself up on her elbows to better scrutinize her. “I have something in my purse that can help you with that dry skin in my purse, too, if you want.”

“Why would I want that?” the Fury boomed, but it was all bluster. She looked bewildered by Pacifica.

“Because I’m guessing you’ve never had a day off, let alone a spa day. Wouldn’t you like to do something just for yourself? A little break isn’t a crime.”

The Fury narrowed her eyes. “You’re bluffing.”

Unfazed, Pacifica gestured to her fallen purse a few feet away and said, “I have a few bottles of nail polish and a file in there. You can check if you don’t believe me.”

The Fury snatched up the bag and rummaged through it. Inside she found three bottles of polish, a nail file, and a lipstick. No concealed weapons, as she had initially thought.

She looked at Pacifica with suspicion. “Why would you do that for me?”

“I guess I just want to show you that I’m not like my ancestors.” She met the creature’s volcanic eyes and added, “I know it isn’t a big thing to do, but this is something nice that I can do for someone. It doesn’t make up for what my family has done, and I don’t think I ever could make up for everything. But if I do my best to be kind.”

Pacifica smiled over at Dipper and said, “I have a great example to follow.”

The Fury looked down her long nose at Pacifica, expression thoughtful. After a moment, she eased her weight off the girl.

“You are wise for such a young one,” she remarked, settling back onto her haunches. The Fury held out the purse to Pacifica and said, “Do what you will. But do not think this means that justice has yet been served.”

Pacifica sat up and bobbed her head. “I have the perfect color for you!”

Dipper watched in awe as his girlfriend carefully evened the Fury’s talons, then proceeded to paint her nails electric blue. “To make your eyes pop,” she had explained.

Once the Fury was relaxed enough to lean back on a hand and close her eyes, Dipper crawled to Pacifica’s side.  

“I thought you lost your mind back there,” Dipper murmured into her ear, never taking his eyes off the Fury’s face.

Pacifica smiled and whispered, “You’re not the only one who knows how to deal with the supernatural. I grew up in Gravity Falls, remember.”

Later, when his family asked about the burn marks on their clothes and the lashes on their legs, Dipper would struggle to put into words exactly how Pacifica had talked a hell-bent Fury into a manicure and facial. For now, he was content to watch Pacifica do what she did best: beautify.
