Most people in the ragged band have few possessions on them. The forced evacuation (run or be consumed) had not been kind, and few had the foresight to food items. Those who did pooled them together for a quick meal in a plaza the night before, and all of them napped in short shifts. They've set up barriers against the walls, and a few engineers have created explosive traps in funneling areas to keep the Process from advancing. Still, there's not much time left.
Amelia of course had brought her personal terminal, the OVC standard. As the reporter types up a quick report she glances up at the roiling sky. One of Cloudbank’s most influential voices has gone silent amid the ‘Process’ epidemic spreading through the city unchecked. It's hard not to mourn the loss of one of her most loyal readers, and she knows Red was mourned by all who knew her. While Red is but one of thousands of disappearance this week, thousands more gathered to honor her life and her music on the eastern perimeter, as the sound of her voice cut through the darkness. All of them there have banded together in this time of great need, huddled in the darkness and listening to the low songs of their star.
As she sits and types the associate editor tries to forget the flashes of white and red that cross her vision, and the thought of the newly-upgraded Process that they've seen on the outskirts. A fair amount of people have taken to staying near Amelia, whether to contribute news or to simply talk, and she tries to ignore whispers about some sort of unofficial leader. They're all part of this together. Administration might be overthrown, but that doesn't mean they have to pick and choose their leaders while ignoring safety.
A dark man in green catches her gaze. He seems to be more of a newcomer, and already the Process sickness is spreading on his skin. He's rolled down his sleeves to hide the marks, but the pale, exhausted look comes from more than just running for one's life.
Amelia's breath catches, then she stands up and walks toward him as casually as possible.
