The Hanged Man- K.D. Edwards (read 25/01/20)

À sequel that definitely lived up to the first novel. (As this is à second novel in à series, I really don’t want to give away any spoilers, so this will be short) This time, there’s à nautical theme, where we follow Rune investigating the mysterious and ancient Hanged Man, ruler of the Gallows Court and his extremely troubling interests. This book was so interesting and expanded the world and characters beautifully, with a plot that always kept me guessing what was coming next. 

Liked: 

Again, without risking spoilers, I’ll keep this brief: I liked everything! The only problem I found was that there isn’t à third book for me to devour. It was really great to see the characters and their relationships developing and there are such interesting and unique personalities- I seriously don’t have a favourite. And most of all, never have I read a book where I have not once wanted to slap a single character. Usually, there are some out there that deserve à good punch to the solarplexus for being so unbelievably stupid, but this urge didn’t happen once. It’s so great to find an author that doesn’t rely on miscommunication and useless secrets in order to further their plot. :)

Disliked:

Really? Nothing tbh. Again, the fact that there isn’t a definite third book out is the only true grievance that I have with this series.

Overall: 

Amazing!! Omg!! We delved so much further into the heights of power at play in this world and the stakes that are at risk grow so much higher than before. I am literally on the edge of my seat waiting for the next installment. 

WARNING:

We revisit the topic of Rune’s rape, and also we look into the habits of the Hanged Man and they truly are not nice at all- we’re talking child marriages, bordering on pedophilia and extreme manipulation- but I must stress that there’s nothing graphic and that the main objective of the novel is to stop this.
