She furrowed her brow at the sound of the constant, incessant beeping noise of her monitor. It was the same sound that kept he company on every lonely night. She counted. From ten to a hundred, until she was too tired to think. The brunette took in a slow breath, filling up her chest with air; although it reeked of death, it kept her going. Looking over at the monitor and then to her dripping I.V. bag, Lily wondered how her life had come to this.
Osteosarcoma.
It was a really bad type of disease; at least that’s how Lily saw it. Doctors told her she had a fifty/fifty shot, but the fraction lessened and not to her favor. She didn’t need much information, it wouldn’t do her any good. The way her skin paled and how weakness consumed her body day after day, was enough for her. Lily looked over at the wilting flowers, they mirrored the exact condition she was in; death.
Her family visited regularly but Lily saw the pain in their eyes. The continuous guilt and sorrow in their hazel eyes was enough to drive her mad. She coughed and felt a stabbing pain shoot through her chest.
Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a figure by the door; An undeniable presence. She turned her head and mustered enough strength to sit up right, “Uhm… I… Don’t think you have the right room.”
