alright, haven't done one of these for a while, so let's go:
haladriel au where galadriel being “stripped of her command” isn’t punishment, it’s theater.
lindon 100% believes her. gil-galad and celebrimbor know sauron’s still out there, but they also know they can’t take him head-on. so they stage it. they exile her, they humiliate her, they make it look like she’s a bitter elf cast out by her own kin.
and the mission? infiltrate sauron’s game by becoming the one thing he’d never suspect: his ally.
so the raft isn’t fate, it’s a plant. the “oops i found halbrand” moment is actually “yep, we knew you’d sniff her out."
the tragic kicker? the line between ruse and real starts to blur. galadriel’s supposed to be immune, supposed to remember this is all an act—but there’s a part of her that likes it. likes matching wits with the only other creature alive who can keep pace with her fury.
and sauron, who thought he was hunting her, realizes one day in horror: he’s the prey.
