"The Long Lost Love"
CHAPTER 4
Soon it’s Solstice night and everything is ready. Gaius, Adrian, Serafine, Jax and Kamilah wait at the station for the train to Ebenezer’s castle . Everyone is there except for Adeeba. Her friends are waiting for her since a long time.
“Where is Adeeba??!!!!”, Kamilah asks angrily.
“The train is about to come and she hasn’t still arrived yet.”, Serafine says.
“Is she really not going to come with us?”, Jax asks.
“She’s also not picking up our calls and replying to our messages.”, Adrian says.
Gaius is silent. He is really worried about Adeeba. The train arrives and they all are about to enter, when Gaius speaks,
“You all go. I’ll come with Adeeba. I’m going to find her.”
“Are you sure about that?” ,Kamilah asks.
“Yes.”
They all nod and enter inside. The train leaves. Gaius stands there all alone.
“I’m going to find you, Adeeba.”, he says.
He begins to search for Adeeba everywhere from Central Park to Times Square. He even texts her and calls her, but she isn’t picking up. He gets more and more worried about her. He can’t find Adeeba anywhere.
At the Liberty Island, Adeeba is standing and looking at the ocean water. She really doesn’t want to attend the Solstice night. Not because she misses Lily, but because of other reasons. She wipes her eyes as tears begin to fill her eyes. She doesn’t say anything. She knows her friends are enjoying the night and she’s happy for them. Right now she doesn’t want to happy, she just want her answers. Everything that Gaius told her echoes in her mind and covers her ears as she doesn’t want to think about it more and more.
Gaius goes to her home and finds the door locked. He really gets frustrated. Then after several hours of searching for Adeeba, he decides not to attend the Solstice celebration and instead goes to his home and falls asleep as soon as he hits the pillow.
When he wakes up the next night, he checks his phone and sees countless call from others, except for Adeeba. He gets up, gets ready and goes to Adrian’s office. There everyone gives Gaius an angry expression as soon as he enters.
“Why didn’t you come with Adeeba, last night?”, Kamilah asks angrily.
“What were you doing last night, huh???!!!”, Jax asks as if he going to kill them.
“Where were you ??!!”, Adrian asks.
And why didn’t you picked up our calls??!!”, Serafine asks.
“Well I—“,he’s cut off as Kamilah asks him.
“Oh my God??!! Did you and Adeeba ---“, before she can complete, Gaius speaks.
“NO!!! I didn’t do anything with her. I couldn’t find her. I searched for her everywhere, but still I couldn’t find her. I texted her and called her, but still no response. And when I couldn’t find her, I went back home as I was tired and slept as soon as I hit the pillow and that’s why I didn’t pick up your calls.”
“Couldn’t you just tell us about it before. You--”, Jax cuts Kamilah and says,
“Well, you’re of no use. We’ve to find her on our own now.”
“Yes.”, Adrian replies.
“I won’t find her with you, but I still will.”, Gaius says with a determined expression on his face.
“And why would you do that??”, Kamilah asks.
“Because I really care for her.”
There’s a moment of silence as everyone stares at him. And by the look on his face, anyone can say that he truly loves her.
“Fine.”, Serafine replies.
The others exchange surprised expressions.
Gaius’s heartbeat fastens , he balls his hands into a fist. He’s going to find his Adeeba at any cost and bring her back.
In a dark alley, a person walks drunk and singing a song and laughing for no reason at all. It’s Adeeba. She doesn’t even walk properly. And suddenly, she starts crying as her past memories hit her.
“Why God? Why me? All I wanted was to live a happy and comfortable life. I never thought that I would be a vampire. I never thought that the supernatural exist. I….I wanted to get my dream job, marry, start a family and then die. But now..It’s not possible. I regret not enjoying the sunlight. I always used to complain about it. But now I miss it so much. I miss being normal. I miss my old life. Why did the others think that it would be good to bring me back to them? I just wanted to die and I was ready for it. But I don’t know why? Why it all happened? And what is Gaius trying to tell me? Why can’t he tell me everything at once? Why does my heart beats fast when he is with me. Why I love spending time with him and get shy whenever he looks at me? WHY??!!”, she asks and starts to cry.
Then she feels like someone is with her. She thinks that it’s Gaius. She turns back with a smile on her face. But it isn’t Gaius, it’s someone whom she didn’t expect to meet here.
“You?? What’re you doing here?? she asks.
“The figure just smiles….
