Good Reads
Last Saturday, I spent over two hours in Barnes & Noble until it was past 10 p.m. Who knew they would even be open that late?
Anyways, this year I am a Resident Assistant in the Freshman girl’s dorm at Xavier and also the head of the book club. I thought it was interesting that my advisor chose me as the head of the book club but I took on the task with great ambition for the group.
While I spent those lovely two and a half hours in Barnes & Noble, I went through 5 fiction, 7 non-fiction and just about the rest of the store besides the children’s section trying to find something. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to have the club read, so I chose three different books for them to choose from.
One book I came across was Alida Nugent’s, You Don’t Have to Like Me.
I was attracted by this book because of its cover (which I know is cliché), but also because of what it talks about. Feminism is a hot topic in this book along with added humor from the writer.
I can't wait to actually read the book and see how Nugent speaks about being a feminist. I think many people don't think they’re feminists because they’re unsure of what the term means. Hopefully, my choosing of this book will help them decide.
