Change is the only thing constant in this world.
Back in my highschool days, I was never a competitive person when it comes to my grades. I'm just happy that I am in the top 20/15 of our section. TO pass is the only thing in my mind until college came.
College life changed my perspective to this concept. I don't know why, but it brought out the competitiveness in me. Now, as a college student, I am so OC with my grades.
So you see, people can change. And people will change. Depending on the circumstances, depending on the environment and depending on the person. :)
