Why do you filter swear words?

Hey! Thanks for the anon. The main reason I filter swear words is because the Bible is clear that it is not a godly trait.. in fact.. God hates it. Crude language in general is crude for a reason. Most people wouldn't go into a job interview saying "F" this "F" that etc. because it's just improper.. but when God warns us of how bad perverse speech is.. we really need to listen.

Examples (from the NKJV):

"The fear of the Lord is to hate evil; Pride and arrogance and the evil way And the perverse mouth I hate." -Proverbs 8:13

"Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers." -Ephesians 4:29

"For “He who would love life And see good days, Let him [a]refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit." -1 Peter 3:10

"Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it." -Psalm 34:13-14

"But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth." -Colossians 3:8

As you can see we are told to put away perverse speech and though I am not using the speech myself.. "Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”" -1 Corinthians 15:33

^ What you surround yourself with.. is ultimately going to infiltrate your thoughts/mind, heart and eventually mouth. I know that I am not perfect at filtering out content that has swearing etc but I work on it. When I do surround myself with content (posts, videos etc) with profanity I notice that the more I am around it.. the more susceptible to thinking it and on occasion using it I become.. even if it's in the privacy of my own room.. it doesn't matter. Sometimes I find myself even being numb to the swear words.. as if they're nothing.. but if God's Word says there's something wrong with it.. I should be sensitive to it. I created this blog with the intention of having a place where I could sign in and see Jesus. Over the years it's definitely turned into a blog full of Jesus and memes etc. but I try to adhere to that same rule of thumb of not re-blogging anything with profanity etc in it.

Hey lady! 2019 was sure a roller coaster ride eh? You’ve faced a lot of self doubts, criticisms, conflicts, & misunderstandings. Amidst all of these, you too experienced love, hope, kindness, encouragement, laughter and patience with and from other people and God. Trusting God this year was a battle and truly you’re still a working progress. I hope that this year, you’ll be patient. You’ll bear fruit as long as you are connected to Christ because apart from Him, you cannot. I pray for a heart that is always willing to obey whatever God prompts you to do even if it means being rejected by people and is not favorable towards you. Be gracious. Always extend the mercy and grace You have received from Christ and from other people to others. Never think that you’re always right and please, eat that pride will you. 🙄 And lastly, never be afraid. Never let fear run into your life. Never be afraid to stand in and with truth, never be afraid to forgive, never be afraid to speak up your mind (with grace) and never be afraid to love (even when it hurts). There’s so much to be developed in you but everything has its time and season. The God you serve has control over everything so there’s no need for you to be in control. Lose it already. Let go. So dear, enjoy every season. There’s no need for you to rush & just follow where He leads. Also, I’m sorry for being too hard on you. I’m sorry for not extending the grace I should have given you. It’s been a while since I last posted and I was able to realize some things. There are things that took my focus, things that stole my joy, and things that destroyed my plans. But hey, God is faithful. He never left my side during this trying times. There were lots of tears shed, emotions were brought out during the period and I must say, thankful for it as well because I never thought that I could still make a comeback after that, but here I am. I am glad for the growth. Truly, in those times when it’s only God who can hear you, He will never fail you. So cheers to new beginnings.
