Katie and Aryn meet for the first time, and.. it’s really sloppy.

It’s the classic run-in situation; only, they already kinda, sorta know each other. Katie’s seen Aryn’s face in old propaganda, and Aryn knows Katie because she got a whole debriefing on the Holts. When Aryn got pulled out of the cryogenic freezer to be used as a commercial prop for Galran colonization, she was pointed towards Samuel Holt and his children as her only, remaining descendants. Needless to say, there was no family reunion. 

Katie ends up meeting Aryn outside some bar (Near some sleazy corner where there’s also shops to steal secrets from). Where Aryn has always been portrayed as this sort of demigod-figure that represented the strength of mankind allying with the Galra, Katie finds a half-drunk slob that smells like 10 years worth of wallowing. Aryn, meanwhile, is pretty sure she knows this kid.

The two of them end up sitting together for a while. Honestly, Katie is mostly just worried for this weird lady, and Aryn is straining for some kind of human contact through the jumbled mess of guilt and resentment that she calls a psyche.

Bonus points if Aryn figures out that this kid is a Holt, and either a.) gets real attached to some girl that just wanted to make sure she was actually breathing, or b.) starts up a fight to go with this whole encounter.

     “ are you really piji’s auntie? ”  sitting cross-legged in front of aryn on the floor, one of her hands held in both of his as he bends the joints of her metal fingers curiously, takashi lifts his head to peek up at her with the question. he’s not really sure WHICH answer he wants to hear, though.  “ i just thought... someone told me that our families aren’t here with us right now. ”

     A quiet, thoughtful hum emanates from Slav as he holds one of the human’s arms in his hands, inspecting it. Occasionally he’ll move it -- lift it, or change the angle, or even seem to test the joints of the wrist or fingers -- and every time, there’s another hum, or brief mutterings to himself.

       “ You were smart. Two robot arms! I have tried to tell the Black Paladin that he            would be much more efficient with two, but he hasn’t listened to me. At least            someone here has some sense! And this technology is quite impressive, though            I can see some places where improvements can be made... Hmm, yes... now            if I could just get a look at the inside, I’m sure I could make these approximately            thirteen percent more effective... ”

     In all honesty, he’s not sure what to make of her. Judging by her appearance, she’s human, or at least half. Could be quarter, depending on what species one of her ancestors might be. Aside from all that though, those prosthetics are definitely Galra, and that has Wash on his guard. To be fair, he’s always on his guard, but it tends to kick into high gear where Galra are or may be involved. Is she with them?

     ---No, that’s a ridiculous thought. Galra are notorious for thinking less of all other races. The only time they’d ever use a human ( or half or quarter or whatever she is, it doesn’t matter ) is for slave labour or entertainment. Maybe experiments of some sort, if her arms are any indication.

Even with all that thought, Wash still isn’t sure what to make of her. ...Outside of maybe one thing.

     “Are you with those Voltron kids, or something?” He asks, not sounding particularly pleased. If it’s human-looking, he’s learned, it’s probably related to Voltron somehow. And if it’s related to Voltron? It’s annoying. “I never saw any humans out here before Voltron, and now you’re all over the place.” He says, like he’s not half-human himself. Not that it really changes his point much.

A cell-mate? For @the-lost-lieutenant

     Quite some time had passed since the activity had died down, noises outside cell doors was faint, separated only by the telltale foot fall of a guard passing by. Stars knew only how long it had been since word of somebody ‘escaping’ had passed everybody’s ears.

     It was the hiss of a door opening that broke a certain silence, an oddly small woman deposited none too gently on the floor of the cell.      Galran language, rusty to the shifter’s hearing was missed, soft and flattened ears ringing and pulsing from the recent ‘damage’ her new neck accessory offered.

     A faint scrape as claws curled against the hard ground was the eventual following noise, along with a low and pained groan.

“Egg nog egg nooooog~!!” She chanted as she drank the rest of her cup. “Dunno if it’s supposed to be blue thooooo!” She Grinned crookedly and grabbed his arm. “Let’s find music and dance!”

PRETEND LIKE IT’S STILL CHRISTMAS    ⋆⋆  @the-lost-lieutenant

     “ aryn... ”  a smile sits perched on his lips, but there’s a TENSENESS in it. his own mind is a bit fuzzy thanks to the ‘space eggnog’ someone has managed to concoct  ( and was a little HEAVY HANDED with the alcohol, he thinks ),  but he’s not so far gone as aryn. even if the temptation to get absolutely plastered is there, they ARE on the atlas and, as captain, it seems ill advised to take anything too far. he needs the respect of everyone else onboard, after all.

     “ don’t you think you--- ”  there’s no opportunity to finish as his lieutenant goes from practically SINGING about the drink to gripping his arm and beginning to tug him along. his ‘--’ve had enough’ is left to hang in the air as shiro struggles for balance and then to KEEP UP with aryn as she carries on dragging him in an apparent search for music to dance to. well, that’s... better than her chugging another cup of eggnog, at least?

     “ you can dance, if you want. i’m gonna abstain, though. ”  he speaks through a faint laugh as he finally falls into pace with her, brushing past some of the CONFUSED looking atlas crew in the corridors who likely haven’t yet heard that there’s an ALCOHOLIC holiday beverage available for everyone  ( who’s of age, of course )  to indulge in.  “ it’s never really been my thing, ”  shiro explains, but a tipsy sort of SNORT of laughter escapes as he continues;  “ and if i try, i will definitely lose a lot of respect around here. ”
