Mr Banks visited the vet today, and the news isn't hopeful. She believes his prognosis is measured in days, maybe a week. In our earlier post, we mentioned that we think of him as belonging to the entire SIT family and community. With that said, this Thursday we're going to take Mr B. for one last ice cream at the Dairy Queen in Carbondale around 5pm. If you want to stop by, or drive-by to say goodbye, he'd love to see you. This sweet boy didn't have the easiest begining, born into the life of a bait dog. However, he has never stopped loving life and has given us a wonderful 7 years. **Please note: per Carbondale mandate, you MUST be wearing a mask and observe social distancing recommendations. Our final Santa's Little Helper available to accompany a movie-goer at Pupcorn and a Movie is Mr. Banks! If you're new to SIT: Banks is our cornerstone Therapy Dog. Prior to coming to us, Mr. B was brutally used as a bait dog in his early years, and although he still has the physical scars of his past, he is a bubble-loving, couch-hugging, booty-scratch-dancing, (albeit bad-breathed) dude. Since his incredible rescue/foster by a trainer in central Illinois, Banks has obtained 3 different Therapy certifications, worked with thousands of students, hundreds of puppies/ dogs, and countless canine-assisted therapy participants. He is an ambassador for his breed, a wonderful example of the resiliency of rescue dogs who overcome tragic abuse, and one of the most balanced dogs we've ever had the pleasure to work with.
