I ship Us//Uk. I don’t ship Fr//Uk. Unfortunately I feel like I am the only person who has legitimate reasons for this.

I recently read a huge history book (British history to be precise) and I realized something. There have been so many wars between France and England throughout the centuries. These wars have so many casualties. I don’t like the portrayal of these wars in Hetalia. In the show and webcomic these wars are shown as simple fist fights or scathing remarks to the other party while the revolutionary war is shown as serious and important.

The portrayal of these wars has lead some fans to think of Fr//Uk as love-hate. NO.

People died during 100 years of brutal war. My ancestors died in those wars. Actually my family has been British for centuries meaning that nearly all generations would have had one person killed in a war with the French. And my mothers side of the family comes from Europe. At some point one of my ancestors could have fought against another one of my ancestors. Killed each other even. 

I don’t like how these serious and important wars are portrayed as ‘kawaii desu bickering’. It’s wrong. If the revolutionary war is going to be serious and sad then why can’t the hundred years war be the same? Maybe I would ship Fr//Uk if the wars weren’t used as an excuse for a love-hate relationship.

Also, I don’t use the revolutionary war as support for Us//Uk. I see it as a dark time that would never be mentioned or talked aboutb if the two of them were ever in a relationship. (Obviously causing conflict)

i feel that greece is actually an underrated character, i think people only remember him when it comes for giripan and it sadness me a lot. I hope at the future people will remember him for othe rinteractions with other countries and maybe hima will put more videos about greece with the culture,history etc.. !  

And also i dont really like the way they portay him, actually the most greeks arent like this it gives a bad view on hetalians i have been bored to be asked if i am lazy and sleepy……….

There’s an old post here that’s like "I don’t understand why people think rus/ame isn’t a good ship" then proceeds to only list a few good things from their historical past and doesn’t at all acknowledge the current horrible state of their relationship, which left me sitting like ”??????” especially seeing that it got a bunch of likes.

It just seems like such an illogical justification to me like yeah, never mind if a couple is always at each others throats now, they were great in the past therefore they’re a good couple.

I’m just saying, if you’re going to defend and interpret a ship from a historical viewpoint, be objective rather than cherry-picking what’s convenient for your argument.

No, they are not nor have they been “becoming closer in real life” resulting in Russia “deeply regretting how much he Mind-Fucked America” during the Cold War. Like ?????? I seriously wanna know where the shippers even come up with this stuff.

I despise the FF.net user Kodelaine. Please read under the Read More because it is NSFW-related.

She often degrades female characters like Hungary and Liechtenstein into mere sex toys for male characters like Prussia (who she ships both Hungary and Liechtenstein with) and Romano. And this isn't limited to Hetalia, she does the same thing for Harry Potter and Marvel universe.

She also has a tendency to make the female characters victims of sexual abuse, who then get saved by their male rescuers. The end of this? Comfort/reward sex. She also wrote down scenes involving characters at a young age having sex, which is against FF.net policy.

This sort of thing is absolutely disgusting. In fact, almost all of her fanfics are sexual and follow the same sort of plot.

(Please forgive me, I looked through all of the current opinions on Kagome-Inuyashkina, and they reminded me of Kodelaine.)

I will never understand why people ship Russia with Prussia. I know that their history was complex and pretty bad in general (along with Prussia saying in the manga that he would gouge his eyes out if he was around Russia), but making Russia be creepy-clingy monster around huge ego!Prussia is not okay.

I really dislike how rabid haters and people who generally dislike the anime start bashing how us, the fans express our love for it. There is this stamp on deviantART that explicitly states that they came to deviantART, not hetaliaART. It doesn't make sense because I see pictures of ponies and extremely overrated shit flying around the internet, and nobody bats an eye. Yet, when it has to do with Hetalia, everybody goes insane. I'm not saying I like the rabid fan girls either. They are a bit crazy, but the main thing is how the haters see all of us as these crazy people. I viewed a rather pointless argument about why Hetalia is apparently bad, and it stated that anyone who watches Hetalia is a creepy 12 year old girl who masturbates to cartoons. Can we all just get along and not hate? We hate on other fandoms because they have transgressed us with their hate. We are free people, and we have short lives, can we not take the time to enjoy what we love and leave what we hate be?

Shadow0b has to be the worst attention whore I've seen in the Hetalia fandom. She mostly complains about how no one will like her AU, which hasn't been popular since 2012. In her AU, the nations gain animal features, and join forces with Sonic the Hedgehog and Yugioh. It is mostly done through MMD, and her complaining has led to many leaving the AU.

As a roleplayer, she uses an Italy muse who has cat features. That has light powers and a humanoid cat/hedgehog girldfriend from an AU she came up with. She doesn't do smut, which would make sense, but she sticks as her Italy muse EVEYWHERE. To get people to roleplay with her, she uses food and insists that people should feed her Italy or else he'll faint. 

Italy doesn't even that big of an appetite from what I checked. And how she portrays him is way different from canon, because she insists that AUs=different personalities.

I really wish that there’d be more accurate portrayal of actual world events and wars in the fandom. Because most of the time if you see that someone’s used hetalia in a history project or referred to it in history class, 75% of the time it is inaccurate and distasteful, because these people don’t factor in how the country’s leaders at that time thought and acted. Which contributes IMMENSLY to how the country should be portrayed.

I say this because I’m currently making a comic for the vietnam war, and whenever i tell some of my friends that like hetalia what i’m doing i can see them cringe a bit. Vietnam isn’t an exactly canon character (despite having a canon design) so i’m trying my hardest to portray her as a person and not some generic animu. And factor in how China would’ve acted, considering he was communist at that point, and how America would’ve been, all gung ho to help but leaving when it looked best to do so.

TL:DR  it really sucks that it’s the norm now for anything hetalia or based on hetalia to not be considered historically accurate at face value.
