Vincent Price as the greatest criminal mind, Ratigan -
The Great Mouse Detective (1986)
Ratigan's death in details
I was always curious to see what Ratigan's body would look like after falling from Big Ben, so I drew the fall scene as a comic page. Also this is the proof that he didn't survive the fall, because Big Ben is so tall. If you calculate the size of animal, the height from which he or she falls, and the speed of falling object, it becomes clear that any animal will die from a fall from such a height. So Ratigan died after the fall and was buried in the place where he fell to his death. So I managed to create a scene that was left off-screen. I think it would be nice if this scene was in Great mouse detective as proof of Ratigan's death.
R.I.P. MR RATIGAN THE WORLD'S GREATEST CRIMINAL MIND 1867 - 1897
Fluffy star of criminal world and incredible romantic - Chapter 6 (Final)
Chapter 6 - Good bye, my love!
After searching Trafalgar Square, domestic rats learned that Ratigan wasn't there.
"Maybe he's back in Kensington?" Ratzil suggested.
The rodents ran to the area where London's wealthiest residents lived, including Ratigan's owners. A search of the house revealed that Fluffy star wasn't there too.
"That's bad," 28-year-old Inga shook her head in dismay. "Where could he be?"
"As far as I remember, he said he was going to Buckingham Palace," fat male rat in gray suit recalled.
Without a moment's hesitation, two friends ran to the palace.
Meanwhile, Mr. Ratigan and Fidget were trying to escape Basil by flying away in the airship.
"I can't pedal anymore," bat muttered, breathing heavily. "We need to dump the load."
"Dump the load? Okay then. Then I'll dump you!" The rat grabbed Fidget and threw him overboard.
The henchman screamed and fell into the Thames. He tried to swim, but then remembered he couldn't swim and had sick paw. Fidget drowned and died at the bottom of the river. Ratigan took his place and began pedaling much faster.
While Inga and Ratzil were running to Buckingham Palace, eight stray rats came running out. They were some of Ratigan's henchmen who had managed to escape during the commotion at the palace. The names of these rats were Roxanne, Spinny, Benny, Fred, Snipes, Dmitry, Tripsy and Rat-tat. The gang rushed toward Ratigan's cottage, trying to escape any pursuers. They glanced back from time to time, trying to avoid pursuit. But fortunately, no one was chasing them. Once inside the cottage, the rats fell helplessly to the floor, terribly tired from running.
"We almost died!" said Dmitry, catching his breath.
"Those mice almost got us!" Roxanne rose to her feet.
"I' dread'm afraid to think what would have happened if they'd caught us!" said Benny, his voice trembling.
"If that had happened, we'd be behind bars now!" Rat-tat nearly burst into tears.
"It's a good thing we managed to escape the palace, otherwise Basil would have caught us," said Fred. "Stop! Where's Ratigan?"
"I'm afraid to say, but he's probably still at Buckingham Palace..." Spinny whispered.
Hearing these words, Tripsy dropped to Dmitry's front paws.
"Did Basil and the other mice arrest him?" brown female rat screamed in horror.
"Why are we sitting here?" Snipes began to panic. "We have to rescue him before it's too late!"
He rushed toward the exit, but Fred grabbed him by the tail.
"No, wait! We can't go back to the palace. It's too dangerous! Basil can be there!" said gray male rat with red hair.
"Then what should we do?" Snipes asked him.
"As far as I remember, our commander said that if the gang lost their leader, they should stay put and not run around the city and cover their tracks," his friend replied to dark-gray male rat with purple hair. "The commander is experienced, he'll find us himself. We just need to wait a little while."
While they waited for Ratigan, Basil slowly opened his eyes and couldn't believe what was happening - he was inside Big Ben, surrounded by gears. Looking around, male mouse noticed a gray domestic rat standing behind him, wearing black-and-gray suit with bright-red cape.
"Help!" came a desperate cry.
The detective saw little female brown mouse calling for help. Basil didn't lose his composure - he grabbed Ratigan's cape and tucked it between two gears. Making sure the yellow-eyed villain was still busy with the cape, male mouse rushed to the rescue and saved the little girl. Watching the fleeing mice and struggling to free himself, domestic rat imagined that if he didn't hurry, Basil would bully Inga.
"I don't want to lose my friend," Ratigan said as tear fell from his eye. "I have to stop Basil, even if it means sacrificing myself!"
Gathering all his strength, the rodent tore cape in half and gave chase on all four paws.
At that very moment, Inga and Ratzil ran to Buckingham Palace. There they found Ratigan's top hat, which he had forgotten to put on while fleeing from the detective.
"That means he's not very far. We need to explore the surrounding area," white female rat explained to younger brother of her boyfriend.
Friends searched the palace grounds, but found no trace of criminal star. Inga was in despair, but then she heard a triumphant cry coming from the direction of Big Ben.
"I won!" Ratigan yelled so loudly that his bride noticed his cry.
"Ratzil, did you hear that?" Inga asked fat gray rat, flustered. "Is that his voice?"
Ratzil looked at white domestic rat in horror. She jumped up and laughed joyfully, just like her boyfriend had just done.
"Here's the groom!" Lady Inga cried. "Hold on! I'll rescue you right now!"
White rat in blue dress ran on all four paws toward Big Ben. As she ran, tears streamed down her cheeks. They were tears of joy. Her escort barely kept up with her, breathing heavily and stumbling over stones.
"Slow down!" Ratzil shouted, carrying a backpack with medicine. "Don't run so fast!"
Then the scream was heard again. It was immediately clear that someone was falling from great height. Two rats trembled.
"Ratigan!" Inga gasped in horror and ran faster.
Inga ran toward Big Ben and started calling for Ratigan, but no one answered. Soon she found her groom. He was lying on the sidewalk, lifeless.
"Ratigan? Get up!" Inga whispered sadly. "Let's go home! Your owners will worry about you."
Ratigan said nothing. His paws lay lifelessly on the ground, and not even his tail moved. Inga began to cry because her beloved rat, Ratigan the Fluffy star, had died.
While she was crying, Inga felt a clawed paw gently touch her shoulder. Tears rolled down the rat's cheeks when she saw Ratzil.
"So, how is he?" he asked innocently. "Is he okay?"
"I don't want to tell you this, but unfortunately, he sacrificed himself for me," she shook her head and said, almost crying. "Oh, Ratzil... He's dead."
"WHAT?!" the shocked brown-eyed rat looked at Inga. "Ratigan's dead?"
"Basil killed him!" white female rat in blue dress began to cry again.
Ratzil bowed his head sadly and hugged his deceased brother. Male rat tried not to cry, but tears welled up in his brown eyes. He couldn't believe it. His older brother had been defeated by mouse! Ratigan had just failed in his glorious plan to take over London while trying to show his courage and fearlessness to his girlfriend! Now his bride and his brother could do nothing about it...
Ratigan's eight unsuspecting henchmen sat in the cottage, awaiting their commander's return. Dmitry and Tripsy stood on the balcony, looking out over London through a telescope, trying to spot Ratigan.
"Guys, look! Someone's coming!" Tripsy shouted, spotting someone.
The remaining six henchmen ran up to Dmitry and his girlfriend.
"Who's there?" Roxanne asked.
"There's some rat in suit!" Tripsy chattered.
"That's not Ratigan!" Rat-tat looked through the telescope. "Looks like his young brother!"
"Ratzil?" Benny asked.
Rat-tat was right - it was Ratzil. He was running on all four paws, breathing heavily. As soon as rat stopped near the house, the henchmen ran up to him.
"What happened?" Spinny asked fat male domestic rat. "You look like you witnessed something terrible!"
"You're right!" Ratzil replied. "A tragedy has happen with your commander!"
All eight stray rats gasped in horror.
"Is he okay?" Snipes asked.
"I don't want to upset you all... But unfortunately..." Ratzil replied sadly. "Oh, guys! I don't even know if I should tell you this news..."
"Please tell us what's wrong!" Fred begged the worried rat.
"We're listening!" Tripsy trembled. "Just don't be silent!"
Younger brother of Fluffy star only looked helplessly at the gang of stray rats.
"Your commander was killed by Basil," he whispered, having tears in his eyes. "He died after falling from Big Ben."
This news made Benny's stomach clench, Rat-tat was overcome with grief, Roxanne sighed sadly, Snipes sobbed, and tears rolled down Tripsy's cheeks.
"No..." Fred sobbed, his ears drooping. "We didn't even get to say goodbye..."
A few later, Ratzil and eight henchmen came to Big Ben. They saw Inga cradling Ratigan's horribly wounded body and mourning his passing. Stray rats wiped tears from their eyes, while Rat-tat and Spinny sadly removed their caps.
After that, Retzil ran into the house where two old gray domestic rats named Larisa and Tyson lived.
"Ratzil!" Larisa hugged her son. "You're back!"
"I missed you so much, son!" Tyson patted the fat rodent on the shoulder.
"Where's Ratigan?" mother asked.
"He died after falling from Big Ben," the guest replied. "Basil killed him."
Upon hearing this news, Tyson bowed his head in resentment, and Larisa burst into tears.
The young son brought his parents to Big Ben, where Inga was still kneeling and sobbing over the body of dead Ratigan. Tears streamed down his mother's cheeks. Her husband fell to his knees, unable to contain his sobs.
"He was the best brother I ever had. And now he's gone!" said Ratzil.
After this, four domestic rats began preparing for the funeral.
The next day, the rats held Ratigan's funeral. His body was placed in coffin. Eight of Ratigan's henchmen who had managed to escape from Buckingham Palace and domestic rats who were Ratigan's fans arrived for the funeral. Inga, Larisa and Tyson were there too. When the funeral began, everyone took their places.
"We're gathered here today to say goodbye to my older brother, Ratigan the Fluffy star," said Ratzil. "He had tremendous courage, and he sacrificed himself trying to stop Basil to show his fearlessness to his girlfriend Inga. He will always be remembered as domestic rat who was Great Britain's greatest rock star."
Afterward, Ratigan's body was buried in grave near Big Ben. His tombstone depicted male domestic rat wearing top hat. The inscription at the bottom read:
MR. RATIGAN THE FLUFFY STAR
1867-1897
As guests looked at the grave, the orchestra began to play a funeral march. Inga burst into tears, burying her muzzle in Ratzil's chest. The gray male rat began to cry, hugging white female rat and sobbing over the death of his older brother. Larisa and Tyson the parents of Ratigan and Ratzil stood nearby. Two elder gray domestic rats hugged each other, sobbing bitterly. Behind them stood Ratigan's eight henchmen. Roxanne, Spinny and Tripsy were crying. Dmitry, Fred, Benny, Snipes and Rat-tat were trying their best to hold back their tears.
Inga's best memories of Ratigan began to flash before her eyes - how she met him, how joyfully she performed with him at concerts, how she had shared a romantic dinner with him and how she had agreed to become his wife. Now it was all over. Her boyfriend was no longer alive. He lay in a grave located on the spot where he fell to his death.
That evening, rats held a memorial concert for Ratigan in the concert hall. A grand piano stood on the stage. A black-and-white portrait hung on the wall above it. The caption beneath the portrait read, "Mr. Ratigan the Fluffy Star." Two people appeared on stage: Inga in her white suit and Ratzil in black-and-white suit with black bow on his neck.
"Ladies and gentlemen!" Inga said. "Today we are gathered here to perform in memory of our fallen superstar. For Ratigan!"
Ratzil mournfully echoed her words and sat down at the piano. As he began to play, Inga began to sing. She sang Ratigan's last song - "Good bye, see you soon".
The day after the funeral, Inga sighed, looking at the portrait she held in her front paws. It was portrait of her deceased groom. At that moment, fat gray male domestic rat with brown eyes, dressed in gray-and-white suit with black tie and dark-blue sneakers, approached her. Female domestic rat noticed him packing his things.
"Ratzil?" Inga asked him. "What are you doing?"
"I've decided to start new life," replied younger brother of deceased criminal superstar. "I'm moving to the capital of America to avoid meeting killer of my older brother. Also I want to forget the nightmares I experienced in London."
"You were the only friend who stayed with me after my boyfriend died. And now I'll be alone!" Inga nearly burst into tears.
"I think you'll find another male domestic rat later, one with whom you'll be happy," Ratzil smiled.
"I won't look for a replacement for my dead groom!" Inga wiped away her tears. "I don't want to betray him! Also I'm afraid of losing my second groom as tragically as the first."
That evening, two domestic rats arrived at the seaport, where they parted ways.
"Ratzil..." Inga hugged male rat and sobbed, fearing she'd never see him again. "I'll always remember you."
"Goodbye," rodent in gray-and-white suit smiled. "I'll never forget you."
A few minutes later, Inga watched the steamer depart. She couldn't help but cry as she watched younger brother of her late groom sail away.
That same day, Ratigan's owners returned home from out of town and discovered that their rat was missing from his cage. While searching, they found strange grave near Big Ben. The inscription on the headstone revealed that Ratigan was buried there. The owners realized that their pet had died, and this greatly saddened them.
A few days later, the atmosphere in Fluffy star's cottage worsened. The minions didn't know what to do now that their leader was no longer alive. Then they saw Inga walking past the cottage. She looked utterly miserable. They asked her why she was sad. Inga told the rats that Ratzil had moved to the American capital to avoid meeting his older brother's killer. Also Inga revealed that she took some things of Ratigan - his photograph, records with his songs, top hat, cape, collection of electric guitars and diamond ring.
After Inga finished her story, the henchmen decided to divide up Ratigan's belongings. Dmitry and Tripsy received Ratigan's piano, Spinny received Ratigan's running wheel, Roxanne received a stereo system, and Rat-tat received jewelry and money. Fred, Benny and Snipes received Ratigan's telescope.
After this, the gang of henchmen disbanded. Fred, Benny and Snipes began wandering the city again, scavenging for food in piles of trash. Dmitry and his friend Tripsy returned home to Vladivostok. Spinny, Roxanne and Rat-tat moved into nearby pet store, hoping to find new owners.
But what happened to Ratigan's cottage? They didn't look for new owner to replace Ratigan, and his cottage was abandoned.

Fluffy star of criminal world and incredible romantic - Poster
Finally I managed to do poster to my Great mouse detective fanfic! So now I'll put this poster into five previous chapters and continue translating the final sixth chapter from Russian into English.
My Ratigan toy
Since I'm big fan of main villain from Great mouse detective, I decided to show his toy to you. My Ratigan toy has very interesting story. In 2020, when I created account on DeviantArt, I noticed that some Great mouse detective fans from DA - @heyhopperart , Birdy-Papa (her accound was deactivated on January of 2025), RussianRatigan, Basil4Life, Brinatello and ALS123 - had similar toys. I decided to get this one toy, but it turned out to be incredibly difficult. There are no Great mouse detective toys in my country. I searched every store in my city and every online store in my country, but Ratigan was nowhere to be found. After a long search, I found him in an international online store, but my mother was against it, because she doesn't trust online shopping. I was about to give up hope when I suddenly found a website of Russian company that makes custom-made soft toys. This company made Ratigan for me, as he wasn't available in my country. Ordering an original from USA is difficult and expensive, and as a Ratigan fan, I wanted this toy. I received him in December of 2021, just before the New Year holidays, so in a way toy Ratigan became a New Year's gift for me. I was a little disappointed when I received him because he had no teeth. I made teeth myself by cutting out an arc of white fabric, drawing zigzag pattern on it with gel pen, and gluing the finished teeth to his muzzle using adhesive-backed patches.
Fluffy star of criminal world and incredible romantic - Chapter 5
Chapter 5 - Ready to do anything for love
Three days later, Ratigan the Fluffy star was strolling through London when he encountered two stray rats named Cassandra and Tirana. Cassandra was gray-and-white female rat with orange flower on her head. Her parents were white female domestic rat and gray male stray rat. Cassandra's mother died in childbirth, and her father was forced to raise his daughter alone, living among other stray rats. When Cassandra grew up, her father died of illness, and she went looking for a new home. Tirana was gray female rat in purple dress and dark-blue shoes. She moved to London from Vancouver because she disliked the local weather. She hated the cold. Learning they needed a new home, Mr. Ratigan agreed to shelter them in his cottage. Just then, Fidget ran up to him.
"Commander, I've found more reinforcements for our gang," said male bat, catching his breath.
"Where are they?" gray male domestic rat asked him.
"I found them near an abandoned factory," henchman explained.
"Fidget, take Cassandra and Tirana to my cottage," Ratigan ordered the bat.
After the trio left, Fluffy star came to abandoned factory and met four stray rats named Tripsy, Spike, Darrat and Spinny. Tripsy was light-brown female rat from Minsk the capital of Belarus. She wore only sapphire pendant. Spike was gray-and-white male from Italy. He wore only black glasses. Darrat was white male from Norway. He wore blue T-shirt, black pants and white-and-blue sneakers. Spinny was orange female rat wearing green baseball cap.
When Ratigan and his four new henchmen returned to the cottage, a surprise awaited them.
"You won't believe it, but Tirana and Cassandra turned out to be pretty cool henchwomen!" Fidget shouted, running up to commander. "They helped me steal something from tourist store."
With these words, he handed Ratigan the box, which he opened. It contained telescope, flashlight, binoculars and compass.
"Just the telescope I needed!" Ratigan said with grin. "Now I can enjoy beautiful view of the city from my balcony. I think I know who wanted the rest of the stuff."
Fred got flashlight, Benny got binoculars, and Snipes got compass. They squeaked excitedly as gray domestic rat began setting up the telescope on his balcony. And so Mr. Ratigan the Furry star created his gang of henchmen, who helped him commit mass crimes over the course of two weeks.
Meanwhile, in Basil's apartment, the following was happening.
"I can't believe that was so hard!" Basil sighed resentfully, sitting in his armchair and clutching the newspaper in his right front paw. "I've been trying to solve this case and find the culprit for two weeks now, but to no avail! The only things I know about him are his name, his musical career and the commission of three mass crimes by his fourteen henchmen."
After saying this, he paused for a moment and glanced at the front page of newspaper he was holding. It read: "Where is Mr. Ratigan?"
"What a cunning rat he is!" detective said, glancing at the headline. "If I don't find him, there will be big trouble. I can't give up! I have to stop him to keep the city safe."
Having made his decision, brown male mouse rose from his armchair and continued his investigation.
In Ratigan's cottage, everything was going on as usual. Benny played harmonica, Snipes sang, and Fred danced. Darcy and Ollie played dominoes with Russell and Tony. Tigran and King played poker with Rat-tat and Berg. Spike and Fidget tried their hand at billiards. Cassandra read fashion magazine, Darrat and Tirana played chess. Guido and Roxanne enjoyed the beautiful view of London using Ratigan's telescope. Spinny ran around in Ratigan's running wheel. Dmitry treated Tripsy to a milkshake.
At that moment, pleased Ratigan ran into the cottage.
"Guys!" he shouted. "This is amazing! I've already sold out all the records of my new album! And my new song I wrote for it became a number one hit!"
"Really?" Dmitry nearly choked on his drink.
"Which song became a number one hit?" Spike asked Ratigan.
"Goodbye!" gray domestic rat winked and began to sing, dancing.
"How many albums have you released in your career?" Tirana asked him.
"Five," he answered to gray female rat. "The first was released in 1887, when I was 20 years old. The second in 1890, the third in 1892, and the fourth in 1895."
"And now you've released a fifth album!" Ollie smiled at Ratigan.
Then Rat-tat approached commander, holding a newspaper in his front paws.
"Imagine what I read today!" said black-and-white rat in red cap. "Our English queen is having an anniversary!"
At these words, all henchmen shuddered. Ratigan looked at the page with the picture of Mouse Queen of England. Then he glanced at Inga's portrait hanging on the wall. Then domestic rat rummaged in his jacket pocket and pulled out a diamond ring he'd stolen from a jewelry store eleven days earlier. A few later, he cast a mischievous glance at henchmen and snapped his fingers. Ratigan the Furry star left the cottage. Fred, Benny, Snipes and Fidget followed him.
"What does this mean?" Snipes asked commander.
"I've got a new idea to impress my girlfriend," Furry star chuckled at his question.
He explained his new plan to four henchmen, and they grinned slyly at him. This meant they approved of his plan. As Fidget and trio of stray rats disappeared into the depths of city, Ratigan headed for the house where Inga and her owner lived.
Inga was sitting on the windowsill, dreamily gazing out over London. Then she heard a familiar whistle and saw Ratigan. Holding his top hat by the tip, charming male domestic rat stood elegantly and smiled at her.
"Hello, Ratigan the Fluffy star!" his girlfriend approached him.
"Inga, can I ask you something?" he looked sadly at white domestic rat.
"Of course," she nodded. "What are you doing?"
"I've been trying to show you how much I love you for a whole month, and I've succeeded. And I want to ask..." Ratigan showed her the diamond ring. "Will you marry me?"
Inga began to dance, hugging him. Feeling his paws numb from joy, Ratigan rushed home.
"It's unbelievable!" he shouted joyfully, already standing at the entrance to cottage. "I offered Inga my paw and heart! And she agreed to be my wife! I'll do this only to show my love for you, Inga! You'll also admire my courage and determination!"
Having said this, gray male rat removed his top hat and grabbed his heart with his right forepaw, revealing his sharp teeth. Then he noticed four silhouettes walking toward his house. They were Fred, Benny, Snipes and Fidget, returning from a successful mission. When all twenty one henchmens gathered at Ratigan's cottage, Fluffy star told them his new plan.
"So, friends," gray domestic rat began his speech. "We all know our English Queen. This evening she'll celebrate her anniversary, but it will be her last day of reign. And I'll take her place, and I'll do it to show my bride Inga that I'll do anything for love!"
"But how will you do that?" asked Darrat. "It will be very difficult."
"Nothing is impossible for me!" smiled Ratigan.
The rats cried out joyfully and began to revel. After noisy party, Ratigan peered into the dark room next to his cottage. There sat adult male mouse named Hiram Flaversham, fiddling with some kind of contraption.
"Flaversham," he ordered the prisoner. "Do as I say, or I'll..."
"No way!" shouted master. "I'll never betray our queen, and I don't want to be part of this terrible plan!"
"Well, well! We'll see about that!" Ratigan muttered through his teeth and went to look for Fidget.
Ratzil the fat brown-eyed rat sat in his cage, sighing sadly. Then he heard a whistling sound and the clink of glass. He turned his head toward the sound and saw someone throwing pebbles at the window. He stuck his head out and spotted Berg.
"What are you making so much noise about?" Ratzil asked.
"Follow me," Berg whispered. "Your older brother is waiting for you."
Male rat in dark-blue T-shirt led the fat shy fellow to his older brother's cottage, where Ratigan explained to brown-eyed rodent what he had planned.
Fifteen minutes passed. Two silhouettes appeared near the cottage. They were Basil and Dawson in camouflage. They crept up to the bottle containing the occupant. While Basil was trying to open the bottle, Dawson quietly tapped on the glass. The figure inside the bottle turned to face them, and mice gasped - it was Fidget in disguise. At that moment, the remaining twenty henchmen leaped out from their ambush.
"Rats!" Dawson yelled.
"Gotcha! He-he!" Ratigan said, approaching captured mice. "Actually, I was expecting you five minutes earlier, but that doesn't matter now."
Ratzil winked approvingly at his older brother. After a while, rats tied the captives to the mousetrap. Ratigan explained how the trap worked and turned to his brother.
"Ratzil," said Fluffy star. "I have important meeting at Buckingham Palace. Can I ask you something?"
"Of course you can," smiled gray rat with brown eyes.
"Take care of Inga," said notorious criminal. "And of Mom. And if you see our father, tell him that superstars never give up."
"Ratigan, whatever you're doing, it's a bad idea!" his brother warned him.
Gray domestic rat with yellow eyes turned on a record player, boarded the airship and flew away. Ratzil sat down in rocking chair and began guarding the captives. He watched them and, without noticing, fell asleep. Mice freed themselves and ran into the palace. Ratzil didn't notice, as he was asleep and snoring loudly.
Meanwhile, Inga stood on the balcony of her house, looking at the night sky. She was wearing new bright-blue dress.
"I hope my boyfriend will like my new dress," white rat whispered excitedly. "It gives me goosebumps!"
After some thinking, she went to Ratigan, but in his cottage she found only Ratzil, half-sitting up and asleep in rocking chair.
"Ratzil!" Inga barked, pushing him to the floor. "Are you sleeping?"
"No! No!" fat rat panicked, thinking his older brother had thrown him off the chair. But after seeing white female rat, he calmed down.
"Hello, Inga," rodent in gray suit and black tie said, embarrassed.
"Can you get Ratigan?" guest asked.
"He's not here," Ratzil explained. "He's been gone for a long time."
"Funny!" Inga headed for the exit. "He's somewhere all alone."
"Where are you going?" younger brother of Fluffy star called out to her.
"To look for that idiot."
"Okay, then I'll go with you."
"No, stay home. He might come back. And I'll look for him in the city."
"Okay, do as you please," gray rat sighed. "Good luck!"
Inga began searching for her groom. She searched three large London parks, but Ratigan was nowhere to be found. When female rat came at Trafalgar Square, she saw silhouette of rat with top hat in the distance.
"Ratigan?" lady gaped. "Is that really you?"
Feeling a surge of adrenaline, white rat raced toward him on all four paws. Reaching the rat, Inga hugged him.
"I'm glad you've been found!" bride cried, kissing the groom, and then she jumped back. It wasn't Ratigan. It was Ratzil.
"Ratzil?" exclaimed white domestic rat in blue dress. "What are you doing here?"
"I decided to join you while you search for my older brother. Also I brought a first aid kit - you never know what might happen to him," male rat in gray suit showed her the backpack filled with medicine.
"You thought of everything! Well done!" Inga winked at him.
After that, two domestic rats continued their search.
Fluffy star of criminal world and incredible romantic - Chapter 4
Chapter 4 – Music crime
The next morning, Darcy and Ollie were rummaging through a trash bin in Hyde Park, looking for food. There, they encountered gray male stray rat wearing dark-blue T-shirt and light-green cap. His name was Berg. He walked along and sang. Hearing him, Ollie and Darcy stopped rummaging through the trash and looked at him in surprise.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" Berg asked.
"You sing like opera star!" Ollie replied.
"Thank you! That's because I love music. My name is Berg," gray rat in dark-blue T-shirt smiled.
"I'm Ollie," Ollie introduced himself. "And this is my friend Darcy. We're both henchmen of famous rock star."
"I think our commander will like you because he loves music too," Darcy nodded.
The rats led Berg to Ratigan's cottage, and Berg became Ratigan's sixth henchman.
Two days later, another three stray rats joined the gang: they were Guido the Belgian, and two brothers named Russell and Tony. Guido was brown male stray rat who moved to London from Antwerp after his parents were killed by pack of stray cats. Arriving in the English capital, he looked for a home and met Ratigan, who gave him shelter in his cottage. Guido was naked, wearing only yellow armband with green star on his left shoulder. Russell and Tony were both gray male stray rats. Russell wore brown-and-white T-shirt, light-brown trousers and dark-gray shoes. Tony wore yellow T-shirt, orange trousers with orange suspenders and gray shoes.
That same day, Ratigan decided to hold a concert as part of his evil plan. While he was performing, his henchmen were to steal a diamond ring from jewelry store. Ratigan sent invitations to his show to Inga the white female domestic rat, and Ratzil the gray male domestic rat. It was time for the show. Ratigan explained to his friends how to play musical instruments, and they took the stage. Ratigan played blue-and-red electric guitar, Inga played light-gray keytar, and Ratzil played green drum set. While they were singing, Guido, Berg, Darcy and Ollie stole the diamond ring from store and returned to Ratigan's cottage.
When the show was over, Ratigan's rock band returned to the cottage.
"Thank you for inviting me to perform at this wonderful concert!" Inga said to her boyfriend with a smile. "But next time I'll play electric guitar. Too bad I don't have one."
"No problem!" Ratigan laughed and handed Inga his pink electric guitar. "I give you this pink electric guitar. Also I give you the keytar you played today."
"Oh, dear!" white domestic rat squeaked happily. "That's great! Now I get to play the electric guitar too!"
"What about me?" Ratzil asked his older brother.
"I'm giving you these drums because you play them so well," Ratigan gave the fat rat a green drum set.
"Thank you!" Ratzil muttered nervously. "I think next time I'll play the piano."
The next morning, Guido, Berg, Darcy and Ollie were walking through the park. They were carrying two boxes of food for domestic rats, bag of biscuits, bag of fruit and bottle of milk.
"Finally, we'll get to eat some real food. I'm tired of running around the dumpsters looking for scraps," Darcy said to his colleagues.
"I'm tired of searching the yards for expired food, too," Guido agreed. "I think Commander Ratigan would be happy to share the food we found for him."
"Who's Commander Ratigan? What are you talking about?" someone's voice suddenly called out.
Rats flinched and saw adult brown male mouse in detective suit approaching them.
"Who are you?" Berg gaped at the stranger.
"I'm Basil from Baker Street," said mouse. "I think I've seen you somewhere before."
"Where?" Ollie asked the detective.
"Yesterday I was walking around town and happened to spot four stray rats escaping from jewelry store," Basil replied. "I thought they'd stolen something, and it was true - in the store, I discovered they'd stolen diamond ring. And those rats looked just like you."
At these words, the rats' skin crawled. They became restless. Then the gang of rats screamed and took off running. Basil ran after them, but he couldn't catch them because rats ran very fast on all four paws.
Wearily, Basil stopped and widened his eyes. His gaze was fixed on the house next to which he stood. On the wall of that house hung a poster for concert. The poster read "Concert of Mr. Ratigan the Fluffy star." The detective looked at the date and frowned.
"That concert took place yesterday. That same day, I noticed four stray rats stealing a ring. I spotted them today, but didn't catch them. They also talked about commander whose name is written on this poster. Their commander's name is Ratigan," male mouse began to think out loud. "Wait! Does that mean these four rats are Ratigan's henchmen? Looks like I'm in for a new investigation!"
Meanwhile, terrified four stray rats ran to Ratigan's cottage. Upon entering, they saw Ratigan. Their leader was running on all four paws in his running wheel.
"Looks like you had a good run around town looking for food," he stopped when he saw his henchmen and approached them. "I can tell by expressions on your muzzles."
"We were attacked by some mouse, but we managed to escape," Guido said, catching his breath.
"Who was that mouse and what was his name?" Ratigan asked the gang.
"He was brown male in detective suit. His name was Basil!" Darcy took off his top hat and began waving it like a fan.
"Basil said he saw us by chance yesterday when we were running from the jewelry store," Ollie wiped the sweat from his head and continued for Darcy, noticing that he was no longer able to speak from exhausting run.
"But he didn't steal the food we got for you," Berg gave the gray domestic rat boxes and bags of food.
"I think we need to find new henchmen, because Basil already knows you," Mr. Ratigan scratched his ear, smiling mischievously at his gang. "If Basil sees you again, we're screwed!"
He gestured for Russell and Tony to come over.
"We almost fell into the detective's clutches!" He said to two gray stray rats. "Now we need to find something to secure our cottage. Russell and Tony, you need to get guns, rope, an axe, and hunting traps. But first, I need to think of a plan!"
While plotting the gun store robbery, Ratigan treated his henchmen to the food they'd found for him. After snacking, Guido went for a walk and soon returned with three other stray rats. The first rat was white female named Roxanne. She wore red-and-black T-shirt with purple letter "R" on it, blue jeans, black fingerless gloves and green-and-orange sneakers. The second one was light-brown male in gray suit, red shirt with dark-blue "UK" sign and black top hat. His name was King. The third rat was white male in gray-and-white suit with red bow, black top hat and black-and-white sneakers. This rat's name was Tigran. Also Ratigan noticed that Roxanne was holding bat in her front paws.
"Have you found any new henchmen for us?" commander asked Guido. "Good job, Guido! But who's that bat?"
"I don't know. We found him completely by accident," brown male rat replied. "As we were walking near old house, plaster started falling on us. We managed to escape, but then we noticed a paw sticking out from a pile of rubble, but it turned out to be bat's wing. We pulled the poor guy out from under the rubble and noticed his right paw was broken. But he didn't die, he just lost consciousness. I hope he's alive."
"My brother and I will try to revive him, even if we're not doctors," Tony looked at injured bat.
While Russell and Tony were busy with chiropteran creature, Ratigan questioned his three new henchmen about their lives. During the conversation, he learned more about them. Roxanne was American rat who became homeless because her owner got a new pet - parrot. Afterward, she came to London from Toledo and befriended Guido. A few days later, she learned that he was henchman of villainous superstar and agreed to live with Guido. King and Tigran were brothers who had arrived from Russian city Vladivostok during their trip around the world. Both spoke English with distinct Russian accent.
When trio finished their stories, Russell and Tony approached Ratigan. With them was male bat, but this time he had wooden leg.
"Well, well, well. You're a member of my gang now. I'd like to know your name," Fluffy star stared at him.
"I'm Fidget," bat extended his wing.
"Mr. Ratigan the Fluffy star," gray domestic rat grinned, shaking his wing.
"It was nice meeting you, Mr. Ratigan," Fidget said. "If you only knew how much I wanted to find a new home, because the old one I lived in was in terrible condition."
"I understand, but now you don't have to worry because you've become part of my gang," Ratigan looked at him skeptically.
Fidget sighed with relief at these words.
"Friends, I've come up with a new plan," Ratigan told all his henchmen. "I'll explain it all to you now."
When Ratigan finished explaining his plan to rob the gun store, everyone applauded.
"What a clever idea!" Tigran exclaimed.
Two days later, in the evening, Ratigan's rock band gave a big concert at London club. This time, Ratigan played black electric guitar, Inga played pink electric guitar, and Ratzil played the piano. While they were performing, Fidget, Russell, Tony, Roxanne, King and Tigran robbed a gun store. They stole mousetraps, rope, pistols, an axe, a shotgun and hunting traps. As they ran out of the store, someone attacked Roxanne.
"Help!" she screamed.
Rats were speechless with horror when they saw Basil holding Roxanne by her front paw.
"Don't touch her!" Fidget gritted his teeth and shouted at the detective.
Enraged King and enraged Tigran rushed to Roxanne's aid. A full-blown fight broke out, but Basil managed to corner the bandits. The frightened six didn't know what to do, trapped in the corner.
"What are you doing with these rats? Stop this outrage immediately!" voices were heard behind Basil.
Detective looked around and saw two unfamiliar stray rats. One was light-gray male in black-and-white suit with green tie and badge shaped like Russian flag. The other one was black-and-white male wearing red cap with the letter "R" on it and blue pants. Seven rats surrounded mouse, and he had no choice but to run.
"Thank you for your help!" Fidget said to strangers as Basil disappeared around the corner. "What's your name?"
"I'm Dmitry. I'm from Russian city Vladivostok," said rat in the black suit and green tie.
"My name is Rat-tat. I'm from China," replied rat in red cap.
The six henchmen brought the two rescuers to the cottage, where Ratigan was waiting. His show had long since ended. Russell told the commander about successful execution of the plan and how Dmitry and Rat-tat had rescued them from Basil. Ratigan was delighted with Dmitry and Rat-tat's deed. After that, these two rats became his new henchmen.
The next morning, something strange happened. Ratzil was visiting Larisa and Tyson the parents of Ratigan and Ratzil.
"I noticed you look a little tired. Are you having any problems?" Larisa asked her son while playing dominoes.
"Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine," Ratzil smiled. "It's just that my older brother has been giving a lot of concerts lately. His popularity is probably growing really fast."
At that moment, they heard Tyson groaning. Larisa and her son ran up to him. The old domestic rat was sitting in armchair, staring at the newspaper.
"What's wrong, Dad?" Ratzil asked his father.
"What scared you?" Larisa frowned.
"Well," that's all her husband said, looking up from the newspaper. "There were two mass crimes in London last week. And rumor has it that our older son is the cause!"
Hearing these words, Ratzil fainted.
"It seems you've been reading too much tabloid journalism. That's why you started believing all sorts of nonsense," Larisa snorted contemptuously.
