Tumblr on Custom Theme HTML - This is very important and useful because here it gives you all the relevant HTML elements needed to make a theme for Tumblr.

Two-Columned Theme Tutorial - Useful guide in helping you in making a theme.

Theme Tutorial + Coding - Another useful theme tutorial & useful examples and coding for rounded corners, text & shadows. 

HTML Tutorial/ CSS Tutorial - Best site i've found giving useful information about HTML & CSS coding. Pretty much everything can be found here and even has its own examples, with a section where you can try your own codes. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Simple Base Code -  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The basics for a theme.

For specific coding things, i use Google to find a tutorial/ site on it. Another tip i would say is to keep going at it. At first, it will be confusing and yes theme-making takes a long time. Yes it can also be frustrating that things aren't doing what you want, but trust me, after a while, you'll understand things more & it will be rewarding.
