So happy to have had some of my work incorporated in the latest for #TheMeCollective, a 3 part story of the legend of Bandai Baloch. 🤍✨🧿 ⁣ ⁣ “Banadi Baloch is the most prominent female figure in Baloch history. Banadi was A great warrior, leader and the epitome of fearlessness. Her position in the Her brother Mir Chakars Army is testimony to Baloch history and the feminist ideal that lived before it’s time. Happy to share with yawl the first guest produced fashion editorial for #themecollective by @can_helin ✨ “Being half Kurdish and half Romanian with Roma roots I wanted explore Roma lifestyle, fashion and "real" Roma culture. In the 1960s the west saw the rise of the Hippy “counter culture", an era that brought the sexual revolution, ideas of freedom of movement, new music theories and an anti authoritarian culture, all ideas arguably taken from the Roma people. And yet their culture and music has never been credited for leaving such an important and progressive mark. A million Roma were murdered during the holocaust, in communist Romania and weren't given citizenship. A modern interpretation of the tragic tale of Mem û Zin, the third video in this series for the #themecollective. It has been such a pleasure collaborating with such magical creatives @arimurad and @imi_oztas 🔮🧿✨🙏🏽🦋🌼❤️💛💚⁣ ⁣ “Mem û Zin is a Kurdish love story written in the 17th century by Kurdish writer, poet, philosopher and astronomer, Ehmede Xani. This work is considered to be the épopée of Kurdish literature and is often referred to as “the Kurdish Romeo + Juliet”. What is significant about Mem û Zin is the fact that Xani chose to write it in his mother tongue Kurdish, rather than any other language that was more widely used in the region at the time.
