Etsy is the best! They have a whole section called “geekery” with a ton of unique hand made, OOAK items! It’s great! I buy so much from etsy!

it's the weirdest combination of things i didn't know i needed and things i'm not even sure why people are selling.

it looks like it would be really good for christmas presents, though.

Your dress for your party looked so good! Did you make it yourself?

Thank you very much! I was actually gonna post some in-progress photos but I forgot, so I’ll just post them here.

I used this tutorial for a guide, although I didn’t stick to it exactly. 

i started out with a plain blue dress from the thrift store, removed the pocket on the front (my mom helped me with this because she’s good at sewing), and then painted on the star in white:

a couple of coats of yellow later and i measured out the stripe (which took me a whole episode of night vale):

then two coats of red:

and then i painstakingly added in the stripe and a blue border (freehand, because my measurements were off):

and then i cried a little more. 

i almost didn’t finish in time. 

(meanwhile, my miss america jacket sits half finished, sad and neglected.)
