wallflower, was the best way to describe the youthful goddess. she was cupbearer to the gods and responsible for keeping them all forever young — and it was this reason alone she had never attended a party as, well . . . a guest. cups needed filled, and it was her task bestowed upon her; so she was nothing short of surprised when zeus informed her she would be attending this affair as a guest and not on duty. hebe didn’t know what to do with herself without her responsibility to the other gods. even though she was a goddess in her own right and they revered her for her abilities, because of their own selfish desires — she was a servant of olympus.

perhaps she had freedom tonight because this feast was honoring and celebrating hercules’s newly obtained godhood, something that was wildly uncommon on olympus. still, hebe questioned what zeus had up his sleeve to grace her with a night off. her first night off in centuries. the goodness fidgeted with the rings on her fingers, only looking up when she noticed someone moving to stand beside her.

the man — god — of honor himself. the blush that crept across her cheeks was unavoidable, for he had been handsome as a mortal; godhood had surely not taken that from him. “ congratulations, “ the goddess said softly, “ it is a rare thing for mortals to obtain immortality. “ she would know — only she could bestow such. “ — then again, there have not been many mortals like you. “ hebe added with a soft, albeit shy, smile.
