This is My Mixed Tape for You

I found out that Andrew McMahon will be in town, and because of that, I have a weird, intense, wanting feeling of posting a mixed tape for you. First, because I never gave you a mixed tape to close it all. Second, because I was never really very good at expressing how I feel and I knew that music almost always expressed it better than my words ever could. And by the time you’re done with the playlist, you’ll know I’m done. 

Don’t overthink the lyrics, though. Sometimes, it’s just about the title, or maybe a few lines, or the whole song. Who knows. 

Here goes, my mixed tape for you. “It’s like I wrote every note with my own finger.”

Track 1: Jack’s Mannequin, Mixed Tape (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdW48xSbb9s)- because duh. Such a no-brainer. 

Track 2: The Magnetic Fields, I Dont Want To Get Over You (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pp5eBxU248Y)- because when you decided to call it quits, I didn’t know what to do. But now I do.

Track 3: The Wreckers, The Good Kind (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e12Z_SROZiY) - because “it was your best line ever, too bad I fell for it”.

Track 4: The Weepies, World Spins Madly On (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4sa2HoXpsE) - because there was a huge chunk of time where I wished that I was dead, but the world just kept spinning. 

Track 5: Dashboard Confessional, The Best Deceptions (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiqXGEV1Bms) - because in the end, I don’t know what hurt more, that you left me or you deceived me into believing that you cared. 

Track 6: Jeff Buckley, Last Goodbye (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzcGs0slGhA) - because, first - Jeff Buckley, and second - i don’t think I really knew you at all. 

Track 7: Tegan and Sara, Where Does The Good Go (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RDdmfWsrsw) - because I’d like to think there was some good in those years. But I’m not really sure where that will go now. 

Track 8: Sara Bareilles, Gonna Get Over You (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OUe3oVlxLSA) - because I’ll be alright. And that someday has arrived. Yay!

Track 9: Motion City Soundtrack, Fell In Love Without You (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3UBtRF1xsA) - because “every aching wound will cauterize and bruise”. 

Track 10: Dashboard Confessional, Vindicated (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yf5qrVdD9E0)- because, yeah, I am. And mainly because Hands Down was our song. Emphasis on WAS. 

Track 11: Little Joy, Keep Me In Mind (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQYM4Pq9P5Q) - because frankly dear I'm forced to give it up. Tried my hand and now I've had enough, even if we have to say goodbye, keep me in mind. 

I do hope that we’ve both learned something from it all, and I do wish with all of my heart that we’ve emerged better people from the wreckage. 

So yeah. I’ll even throw this in for good measure - Good luck with your life. I do hope you’re happy now.
