The best gifts are the ones you make yourself... Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms Everywhere! We all know that 90% of #momming is cleaning up and for that we want to make sure our mom sees all the love in our messes. Our mom’s love and curiosity to find the answers to any and all of our problems has been inspired by her mom, a nurse and entrepreneur who is always learning and providing comfort. Francy is 22 years and has told me she is dying. Not today but soon (hopefully not that soon). As devastating and life changing as that is my job is to keep her comfortable and to fall in love with every moment we have. To Treasure every sound, smell, purr I can, and to listen to her to tell me when it’s time. I’ve lived with Francy longer than I have, or probably ever will live, with anyone, 20 years. We have managed to moved 9 times together. She has taught me everything about love and I so lovingly call her the “mother of us all”. She has taken tremendous care of every animal that has shared my house and so far, outlived most of them. Last week I picked out her urn and paid for her cremation. It’s not time now but when it is I won’t have to think about it. She still has a big appetite and is receiving subcutaneous fluids every other day. This is supporting her kidney failure and she is perkier when she’s hydrated. There is nothing to fix or to solve, only to love and enjoy. Death is merely a transition back to spirit and a celebration of all we’ve been together. I will never be without her. All of the things Francy was here to teach me will have been learned. As of today I am still learning and she’s still here to teach. Happy #BookLoversDay. #TheBookOfNightWomen isn’t the easiest read but it’s been a favorite of mine for a long time.
