I am #dog sitting for my neighbors little #chihuahua boy. Meet #Bosco. Gracie is happy to have a same species friend in the house. He’s settling in nicely. Francy came home today... These last couple of weeks I’ve taken my house out of hospice. There have been so many things put in place for the ease of those who were ailing. Fluid bag over the cabinet, all the different foods, and all the rugs for a sweet magical cat who’s litter box was in an alternate universe. Francy passed away on her own with Gracie and I right next to her. I’ve never experienced one of my cats go with no intervention. Francy slept all day moving only her head occasionally. About 15 minutes before she died her breathing changed. So gentle and so slow. 4 inhales in a minute. She was so thin I could see her heart beating and as her breathing ceased her sweet heart slowly faded away. After a minute or so Gracie had the most magical shudder I’ve ever seen. She didn’t shake just shudder, like she’d let go of some old stuff. Once she was gone there were waves of tears and a desperate need to do some specific things. #SaturdayBrunch with this fancy lady 💖 We’ve been pretty quiet this week because on Monday Gracie went to the vet for her still swollen foreleg. After x-rays and blood work that vet was very concerned it was cancer. I immediately made an appointment with her regular vet and this morning after 3 aspirations she found no abnormal cells and believes is a weird lipoma in her muscle. She wants to do an incision to determine what it is. Vet also said Gracie’s limping is arthritis that goes all up her leg and the twitching of her leg is nervy possibly from her neck. The vet also determined Gracie is closer to 10 years old instead of 7. It was quite a scare after Odie and then Francy just last week to hear that Gracie May have cancer. We went out for breakfast to celebrate and in her mind she ate all of that. #eyesarebiggerthanherbelly Thank you so much for hanging in with us as we continue to navigate the world in a whole new way. Today is Five’s 15th #Birthday; 5/15. He’s 1/3 old. Five has been my house manager from the beginning. He’s always made sure everyone who comes in is fully checked out. He does a perimeter check before bed and if something wakes me up in the night he’s always there to tell me everything is fine. He takes care of all of us, making sure we all get some Five time everyday and experience his amazing massive #purr. Five took amazing care of Francy from the time he arrived at 8 weeks old to her very last day. He also makes extra time for his special lady, Hazel. They are truly #thelovers My favorite #manager story of Five was with a salesman who was in my house and would not stop talking. After about 20 minutes Five got up from his nap and sauntered over. Letting this guy pet Five and tell me that all cats just love him. And how magical cats think he is. Five hopped on the table rubbed up against him purring and playing right into the guys hands. Five then turns and sticks his a$$ in this guys face, like 2 inches! The salesman was gone within a minute. It was hilarious! #RetailTherapy helped a bit this weekend. I went to the @queenbeemarket and got to see our friend @fuzziedot. Francy passed away today so peacefully with Gracie and I by her side, she just faded away... Gracie is having a #sickday athome in her #jammies on her #mermaidtailblanket with her #pawsock #rice filled #heatingpad for her paw. She’s limping much less but still has swelling. Five is keep a close watch on his #assistanthousemanager. Francy’s been up for a sip and a #walkabout. She continues to refuse food. There is so much more peace around Francy and her next step. Cuz what’s #sunday without a little more #drama? Gracie had a quick trip to the #ER vet because her front right paw was super swollen and she was not putting any weight on it. So, ironically Gracie went to the vet and Francy? Well, she’s still alive...amazingly she is still walking around a bit fully aware and getting sips of water. She has refused food for 3 days now. She’s quite remarkable. Thank you so much for all of your support and love. Your words and stories are so helpful and give me great comfort. I can’t thank you enough for your outpouring of love. Here I am again finding myself square in the face of anticipatory grief. My dear Francy is dying. She has been my partner in life for the past 20 years and literally slept on my face for most of those years. Through moves and jobs and a host to every animal who’s lived with me. Francy has been the matriarch and alpha of this household from the beginning. She rules with kindness and love. Always accepting and always there for a healing. She took such amazing care of Odie when he had his eyes removed. My in person clients have experienced Francy’s healings. Honestly anyone who sat down in my house for any length of time experienced a Francy healing. She climbs in your lap and melts on to you. Right in the spot you need it most. Francy’s body is failing and soon she will be leaving this world. If you’ve followed us for a while you’ve seen that we all work for Francy. We clean her, keep her warm and we all work in shifts. This is definitely a job that I don’t want to lose... But everyday I get closer to knowing I have to let her go. This week we are locked in a battle of wills. I’ll let her go when she’s gone and she’ll be gone when I let her go. Clearly she knows best and I am slowly letting her go. Letting her body go. Her spirit will always be a part of me. Keep us in your prayers for her peaceful transition. I believe she will go on her own terms. ♥️🙏♥️ Francy was hit by a car before I met her and was rendered “unadoptable” at 2 years old. That’s why she has a funny expression. She has nerve damage throughout her face (ears don’t turn, eyes don’t close, whiskers don’t move). I couldn’t imagine her and her best friend Ralfie (blind from a dog attack) never having a home because they looked different.
