He wasn’t offended when Neo called him an idiot, or her dum-dum. No, it was endearing - he knew how she felt about him, after all. And the way he felt, well, he was sure their moments alone showed her.

Roman closed his eyes, leaning slightly into her touch. It hurt, if he was to be honest, but still he always took comfort in the way she caressed him. Green eyes opened when the other pulled her hand away and started signing.

He had no illusions about the end of his path. So far, he’d done a good job of surviving all that was thrown at him, but in the end, when you enter a life of crime, you end up dying a horrible death - by your enemies or colleagues, it doesn’t matter.

It wasn’t until he met her that this reality began to bother him.
