Sélène
(Okay, quick apart before we begin : this is my translation of Eros Necropsique' song 'Sélène' : you can find the original lyrics here. I thought it would reflect Irulan and Feyd's relationship but I'm not entirely satisfied. The search goes on. You can, of course, reblog it for any other pairing !)
In the cradle of the sky,
The princess smiled,
The entranced darkness
Basked in her light.
The pallor of her eyes
Deflored the night.
The sublimated Nature
Honoured her with its prayers.
Moon is your name,
Beautiful ancient star
Fascinating muse,
Mistress of our nights.
You are the great missing
Link we cherish
Fragile spirit.
Your red hair
Sometimes hides
Your milk-white round body
To the star’s eyes.
Queen of coldness,
In which we have faith,
The rest of us are but limping beings,
Cover us in your veil.
I want to be the one
Who tastes the pleasure
Of being devoured
By the beautiful moon.
Oh absolute joy,
I have but one desire :
Between my fingers, hold
The moon’s white foot.
Here ring
The eerie chords
Of the earthy symphony’s
Screams.
Look at all those sacrifices,
Those bodies and those souls,
Burning for you, Luna,
Parched for infinity.
Isn’t it a burden,
That loneliness
For you, the night’s eye
Arcane white ?
Girl, your cradle
Is this weariness
This cold mourning aura,
Orbital sensuality.
Let’s relinquish to live
This sublime horror :
Forever separated,
Let’s unite our moans.
But, crying, I become intoxicated
With a heavenly hope :
With my fangs, tear your being
And steal it for my own
Civilized doesn't mean good (Feyd)
Today was special. Or so she heard. Her sisters giggling would be a clue. Irulan was brushing her hair, still wondering how to wear them so they would do justice to her golden dress.
Apparently, the royal daughters were requested to attend the Harkonnen’s arrival to Salusa Secundus. What a bore, thought Irulan, pushing her book aside so she could grab her lion-shaped pin… It looked like two lion paws maintained her hair. Father once told her it suited her well.
But her sisters weren’t giggling over another Major House coming to the Palace : they saw it everyday. No, it was House Harkonnen. From what she heard (but everyone was so quiet about this arrival, everyone was so busy !) they were here to discuss important and secret matters with the Emperor. That sounded rather interesting.
“I heard the Baron’s heir is…” Wensicia said with dreamy eyes. “Very handsome. And not promised yet.”
More giggling. Irulan looked at herself in the mirror before selecting her whitest powder.
“Don’t dream too much, girls” Chalice reprimanded. “If he is to be promised to anyone, it would be to Irulan.”
She couldn’t help but have a small smirk while applying her make-up. Wensicia shrugged : “I don’t think so. If he is to marry Irulan, that would mean Father chose him to be his heir. Wasn’t he talking so greatly about house Atreides last diner ?”
Irulan rolled her eyes : trust Wensicia to bend politics so she could dream about a man. But Irulan wasn’t ready to let her have what she wanted yet : a place in the light. If they all wanted the Harkonnen’s heir attention, she would get it. She knew she was beautiful and she was important : nobody could ignore her. She just had to add a little something her sisters wouldn’t have like a… Corrino ring… and she was ready to impress whoever came to see her father. If he was a bit relaxed after the feast, he could even tell her why he was truly here. She had another smile.
And so she was now, standing to her father’s left, the first of her sisters, waiting for the doors to open and reveal the Harkonnen delegation. She couldn’t help but feel a bit curious, for once.
