Thorin - Thorin is by far the more honorable of my two muses. He has been raised a prince and king, had to learn by doing. He is troubled, has abandonment issues, but he is a true fighter. He fights for what he wants even though he almost lost his will to live as the actualy story sets in. Thorin is a deep, layered character with flaws, that he knows about. He's very honest to himself actually - but not necessarily towards others. I like and admire him for all of that, but especially for his strength and leadership despite everything. Guy - Guy has made mistakes, he is misguided and largely expanded by me. His 10+ years which are missing in the show have been added in painful detail with something I consider plausible, so he is a character driven by what happened to him, scared and broken, with some flaws similar to Thorin. Unlike Thorin Guy is quite capable of lying to himself and especially to others. He is a darker character, because he never had to care for others, never had to be selfless - Isabella so doesn't count, cause... good job Guy, selling your own sister, aye? - He never learned empathy, never learned what love and family mean. His parents weren't prime examples either. And then there is Malcom. Guy is a heavily misguided and misunderstood man, that does not justify some of his actions, but explain them. I like him, I want to rip him from his past and place him in a proper family. He has potential, he just never gets the chance to live up to it.
