Disorder and Misbehavior with - The Naughtys @ Gullivers, Manchester 11/05/12
As it well may be known both Em Music Matters and other members at Hive Radio Manchester are a big fan of the raucous and rampant boys, bringing innovative music from Stretford: The Naughtys, after catching them a few moons ago at one of last year's Bench Lunch Time Live chilling acoustic sessions. Tonight upstairs in Gulliver's events room which is plastered with old-school posters, hot and sweaty, bumbling with people and buzzing with energy we feel taken back in time to the magic days of Northern Soul gigs, as The Naughtys show us just how unruly and mischievous they can be...
The fractious set of magnificent Mancunian disarray and rowdy performance saw the likes of 'Stag Do', a rocky rascal tune, buoyant and bouncy, about the likes of a Stag Do in England as 'we thought we was too poor to go abroad oh-oh!' One to have the crowds energy fall into effervescent and animated misbehaviour, one for the loud, boisterous lads (and the equally eager lasses!) We were also treated to uncensored version of riotously entertaining rudely named TWAT, a whirling rocky-jivey track of irrevocable speed and vigour which sent a descent of commotion amongst spectators whom belted along to comical chorus 'You don't know where it's at... You're a twat!'
(Tonight The Naughtys were far from that quiet afternoon at Bench a few months back...)
The walls of Gulliver's confined yet intimate live space of course shook with the sound of a colossal collaboration, The Naughtys joined by their evenly endowed rapper friend: Baileyz on Nevermind. The hip-hop meets ska song which has even the unexpected targets of rap music bouncing and spitting along to lyrics such as 'if you can't get a n*sh go pay a wh***e!' Any band that can successfully have Em Music Matters loving a spot of rap music have got to be something big. The boys rounded up the night with a belting 'We Could Have Been Anything We Wanted To Be,' and with gigs as immense and brisk Hive Radio Manchester give the nod, they certainly should achieve something with their more than able capability to perform.

For fans of a rowdy night out and a vigorous bound and sing-a-long, (I'm looking at you, you outrageous Twisted Wheel and The Enemy lovers) The Naughtys live and in full swing, is a brutally implausible experience of debauchery, not to be missed! But not only that, with a turbulent ska-bluesy-punk resonance that is not dissimilar to The Jam and The Specials, this band are not just a slice of charismatic entertainment, but musical aptitude to observe.
