TLDR: i wrote a story in this graphic anthology about menopause!!!!
From the Amazon description
Like so many other issues surrounding women’s reproductive health, menopause has often been treated as a cultural taboo. On the rare occasions that menopausal and perimenopausal women are depicted in popular culture, they are stereotypically cast as the butt of demeaning jokes that encourage us to laugh at their deteriorating bodies and emotional volatility. The result is that women facing menopause often feel isolated and ashamed. In a spirit of community and support, this collection of comics presents a different view of menopause that enables those experiencing it to be seen and to feel empowered, their experiences validated and shared.
Balancing levity with sincerity, these comics unapologetically depict menopause and all its attendant symptoms, from hot flashes and vaginal dryness to forgetfulness, social stigma, anxiety, and shame. Created from a variety of perspectives, they represent a range of life experiences, ages, gender identities, ethnicities, and health conditions. The common thread uniting these stories is the affirmation that, while we can and should laugh at ourselves, no one should be ashamed of menopause. The comics in this book encourage us to share our experiences and to support one another, and ourselves, through self-care and community.
Featuring works by Joyce Farmer, @thenearsightedmonkey , Mimi Pond, Ellen Forney, and a host of other pioneering and up-and-coming comics artists, Menopause is a perfect foil to the simplistic, cheap-joke approach society at large has taken to this much-derided women’s health issue. Readers will revel in the sly humor and universal truths found here.
My friend Cathy and I are included in the line “a host of other pioneering and up-and-coming comics artists.” I wrote the story and she illustrated it. Mine is about going to mikvah (Jewish ritual bath) after I found out that I was going to need a hysterectomy at 40.
You can pre-order it today and have it on your doorstep in May 2020!

Scrivi, disegna, incolla... Deeply inspired by Lynda Barry's work #thenearsightedmonkey (presso Bologna, Italy) https://www.instagram.com/p/ByF0ZLQoZlm/?igshid=wgiis8kcp0qj
Comics I've read this year thus far. #danielclowes #patience #lyndabarry #thenearsightedmonkey #picturethis #bryankvaughan #papergirls #brianleeomalley #seconds #lesliehung #snotgirl #kurtisjwiebe #ratqueens #gerardway #umbrellaacademy #thetruelivesofthefabulouskilljoys I'm partway through Killjoys, but I stopped so I could buy the My Chemical Romance album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys as I thought it'd be apt to do so. I don't think I've heard any of their music outside of The Black Parade, so... we'll see...
Visited my daughter's grade 1 class today and had a blast talkin' #yawnder. Some great results from our activity too. First, everyone shared an idea and we wrote them up on the whiteboard. Then, I had them fold a sheet of paper so there were 4 parts. In each part, draw a scribble, squiggle, shape and stick. Then, turn each one into an imaginary creature. Last, make each creature be thinking of one of our earlier shared ideas. Didn't quite finish cuz of recess but everyone had fun. Thanks to Lynda Barry for the inspiration for this activity. I made some adjustments for 6 year olds. #lyndabarry #thenearsightedmonkey
