GW2 Character Questions
Stolen from thenecographer’s blog, and answering as my own damn self:
1) What race are they? How does it affect their personality and views, if at all?
I’m human, but I don’t really give a damn about our supposed ‘Gods’ - if that’s what you’re trying to get at.
2) What’s their class? Why this class in particular, whether for in-character or your own reasons?
I was taught my dueling and mesmer skills from Valgar - my teacher. I hate using it (the mesmer skills I mean - I fucking love dueling), but he said it was the best use of my... abnormality.
3) For Sylvari characters — are they loyal to the Pale Tree, or do they lean towards the Soundless or Nightmare Court?
A close friend of mine has been leaning towards the Soundless, but she’s definitely not Nightmare Court.
4) Did they join an Order? If so, which one?
Vigil represent! I joined as soon as I heard about it.
5) Describe their personality in a paragraph.
In the words of Warmaster Skystride:
“Brian is arrogant and egotistical, confident in his swordsmanship and eager to show off. He will take on most challenges directed to him and shows contempt for those who he considers ‘weak’. Underneath he has a deep insecurity of not belonging, and he feels displaced from his race - so his personality flaws become more pronounced when he is around humans. Most commonly he will not back off from a fight when it would be more wise to, wanting to prove himself to others. In general he prefers the company of non-humans.”
6) How do they feel about the other races?
I swear if any fucking asura comes within an inch of me they will regret it. The others? Norn are who I grew up with, so I get along with them pretty well. Char are also good comrades. Humans... I don’t really give a damn about.
7) Do they have any family? What’s their relationship like with them?
My closest ‘family’ is Valgar Blindrhogg. He’s pretty much been my mentor ever since he saved me from the Inquest.
8) What’s your favourite armour or weapon set(s) for them? Any particular reason why?
My armour is nothing too special - it gets the job done, and doesn't get in the way of my dueling. I also have Vigil uniform for when I require it.
9) What’s their favourite place in Tyria, and why?
Gleaner's Archway, in the Bloodtide coast. It was the place where I meet Rachel after our first meeting about ten years later. I was going through a lot of shit at the time - she helped sort it out.
10) What’s their least favourite place, and why?
Fucking Rata Sum. You get one damn guess as to why.
11) Describe a high point in their story, and then a low point.
High point? Distracted two of Zhaitan’s lieutenants so the Commander could get through to Zhaitan himself. It nearly fucking killed me, and my head’s still recovering from the damn ordeal - but I made a difference.
Low point... being experimented on was a fucking low point, although deserting my squad during a mission was pretty damned shameful too.
12) What’s their history? Does it follow the Personal Story or did you create something new?
I’m not the Commander that lead us against Zhaitan, if that’s what you’re asking. My past is pretty different - but I’m not in the mood for sharing any more than I already have.
13) If they follow the Personal Story, what was their relationship with their Order mentor like?
I had the occasional mission with Forgal - he was a damn good leader. His was a great loss.
14) Any bad habits?
Apparently I ‘bully’ the rats too much. I think they mean not enough.
15) List 5 of their favorite things, can be anything from food to places to activities, etc etc

16) Who do they consider their best allies? Their worst allies?
Rachel, Dani, Vex, and Valgar are all awesome - to name a few.
Don’t send me on a mission with an asura. DO NOT SEND ME ON A MISSION WITH A FUCKING ASURA.
17) What are their biggest strengths? Biggest weaknesses?
I’m an amazing duelist, I’m dedicated to the Vigil and loyal to my friends. That being said, my opponents can sometimes surprise me by being stronger than I initially thought - I don’t really take them seriously half the time. I can tire out pretty quickly too if I’m not careful.
18) Do you have any songs or playlists that make you think of them
I have my own damn album, heh. Here’s a taster...

19) Where are they doing right now in the time between the Season 2 finale and the expansion?
Waiting to hear back from the Pact fleet that was sent off. I was busy helping in a squad elsewhere when they set off - so until then I guess we just have to keep things ticking over.
20) What are your plans for them in Heart of Thorns?
I've got a few people I want to catch up with that went with the Pact - once the fleet gets back to us with word on Mordremoth I plan to also go over and meet with them.
