Doesn’t Thorin refer to him as ‘master burglar’? In this case it would mean his profession, not maggiage status.
yeah, that form of address is clear
but he also calls him ‘master baggins’ in some instances, so maybe he’s just referring to his profession then also? in the beginning first mockingly, and then later in earnest perhaps?

idk, bc thorin doesn’t respect bilbo at all in the first movie, and he still calls him master (eg. after they leave rivendell ‘master baggins, i suggest you keep up’)
