madre linda was anything but exciting. emily and her family had a moved a couple of months ago and yet - even with her mothers reassuring comments, nothing had changed. that was until natalie’s death. it seemed...unsolved. it seemed weird. to be completely honest, now that people had started to move away from the idea that there could be a raging murder running around town - the new bakery that was opened by love was one of the most exciting things to happen to the town. today was no different, emily sitting on a small table outside of the bakery with a coffee and a bagel beside her. theo was the only thing giving her shade, “i’m just waiting for one special word,” then a nose scrunch as blue eyes peeked up towards the other. “it starts with a p and ends with a lease.”

any excuse to throw a party, right? if your name was sherry, there was no excuse too little to get all your friends together to show off just how much you actually owned and just how much you could afford to have in your own home. thankfully - given the gossip around time, she knew for a fact that theo and michael would be in attendance. what that meant was that she would have enough distraction from the sherry of it all to actually maybe have some fun for the night. that or they’d just run away from the party and get a call a bit later about where they had run of to. 

weirdly, she was in a dress. a long dress, with heals too. her mom had explained that the party was on the fancier side, so mrs rhodes had picked her out before emily could say no. she wasn’t a dress girl and she never had been, but showing off to the rest of the neighborhood was apparently quite important. as soon as she saw theo out of the corner of her eye, she gave him a quick wave and made her way to him. as soon as she got closer, her lips parted with a furrowed brow. “why are you looking at me like that?”

in   the   grand   scheme   of   things   ,   it   took      𝐬𝐨   𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞      to   make   bear   happy   .   a   smile   (   thank   you   ,   woman   at   the   door   )   ,   an   unwarranted   apology   (   from   the  man   he’d   purposefully   run   into   ,   no   less   )   ,   when   the   mood   struck   and   the   desperate   need   for   acknowledgment   was   the   only   thing   the   young   man   could  feel   ,   it   would   take   the   smallest   of   gestures   to   stave   off   the   emptiness   which   threatened   to   consume   him   if   he   dared   to   remember      𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭   𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞   𝐡𝐞   𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐞   𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦   .      though   it   was   unknowing   on   their   part   most   people   were   more   than   happy   to   play   along                  bear   was   ,   after   all   ,      a   good   looking   kid   .      and   what   he   lacked   in   looks   he   more   than   made   up   for   in   attention   grabbing   behavior   .   it   was   simple   ;      so   simple   in   fact   that   when   someone      𝐃𝐈𝐃𝐍'𝐓      play   by   his   rules  ,   they   stuck   out   like   a   sore   thumb   .

they   were   close   enough   in   age   ,   bear   thought   .   close   enough   to   make   this   specific   strangers   gaze   meaningless   under   normal   circumstances   ,   but   the   fact   that   he   hadn’t   even   so   much   as      GLANCED      his   way   was   enough   to   have   bear   riding   the   line   of   insanity   .   it   was      THAT      kind   of   day   and   he   was   in      𝐓𝐇𝐀𝐓      kind   of   mood   ,   so   closing   the   relatively   short   distance   between   them   didn’t   for   even   a   second   feel   like   a   bad   or   inappropriate   idea   .   it   was   just   what      HAD      to   happen   .      duh   .      ❛   what   the   fuck   are   you   looking   at   over   there   ?   ❜
