My whole body shivers as the rain starts to pour heavily at midnight. I had to run since the car was parked from a distance and I don’t have any umbrella with me. My friend used her coat to cover her head and rushed through the car, leaving me stranded. I was ready to run too but with only my hands to cover up my head. I can’t lift up my skirt because that would be a stupid thing to do. I took a step which made my shoes immediately wet but a sudden, strong grip shocks me that I almost fell off the ground.
Standing right beside me with that usual look on his face like he has the whole world upon his shoulders. He took off his beanie and fixed his messed up yet so soft I want to touch so bad hair and placed it on my head instead. I opened my mouth to ask all of these sudden actions but he pulled me closer and started counting down. Wait, what is he--?
We ran as if the rain will be the death of us and got inside the car. There I found my friend at the backseat giving me an apologetic smile for she was panicked a while ago. I was in the front sit and he drove the car. On our way home, I removed the beanie to let it dry and I combed my tangled hair. I faced him to thank him, but no words came out from my mouth. All I did was study (or at least admire) him. His puffed eyes, pointed nose, lips that I’ve kissed a thousand times, sharp jaw line, and his hair. His hair at the level of his broad shoulders, long enough that the tips of it flies away. The stoplight flashed red and he slowed down the car. His hands still on the steering wheel, eyes focused on the moist glass. I held his hand. It was both delicate and cold. Looking in his hazel eyes and smiled as a ‘thank you’, he lifted his hand and placed it on my cheek that I didn’t realize were blushing hard from the start and there I see the faintest smile he could ever give.
