Emotion - Michael & Number One
Continued from HERE @thenumbr1
“Human or not, you have to see the irony in someone raised on Vulcan giving me lectures about feelings,” Number One lightly teased, a perfect brow raising slightly.
She’s honestly fairly curious about Spock’s mysterious adopted sister, especially after hearing Christopher rave about Michael’s performance aboard the Discovery. “Do you have a free moment for lunch? I don’t have to get off this tin can for another few hours.”
The irony wasn’t lost on Michael. No more now than it had been when she’d tried to teach Spock to accept his feelings, her little brother walked a tightrope made of broken glass and razorblades over pools of lava, and she’d always worry about him. There was something about Number One that reminded her of Spock and the person she’d been early in her career on the Shenzhou.
“I do have some time,” she said, her lips curling into a bright smile. It’d taken her years to smile so freely, and months to reclaim that same grin after her trial and Lorca’s betrayal. Making peace with Spock had helped as did her time with Captain Pike. But to have a chance to get to know the enigma known as Number One was a chance she couldn’t pass up.
“I’ve never been to this starbase, so I’ll trust your judgement on the food.” Michael signed herself off duty and followed the statuesque, dark-haired, officer off the ship and into the crowded station. “It doesn’t have to be vegetarian. I can find something to eat anywhere. You don’t need to be a slave to my dietary preferences.”
