theo idealizes the past and gets drunk on nostalgia an unhealthy amount. obviously a lot of this involves the ‘Before’ but his relationship with boris as an adult shows that, too. and his complete loss of that idealization of boris that comes after his attempt is an important step toward theo letting go of things and trying to act like theo and boris keep in touch is unfair to theo’s growth.
#.* 01. › ooc .#as a kid boris was great to theo but that doesn't hold up as adults#theo has changed and boris really hasn't#boris still acts the same he still acts how he wants and expects the world to kind of ebb around it?#and theo isn't impressed by that anymore#he doesn't care about boris#and boris really doesn't care about him#after amsterdam i doubt boris and theo ever see each other again tbh and i don't think theo would ever Want to#boris is for sure an extremely important part of theo's life but he isn't the end all be all and if he was theo would have tried a lot harde#harder* to keep in contact with him as teens#but he didn't#and he won't as an adult#especially after everything boris did#theo doesn't hate him#he could never hate him but growing up and letting go is important and theo is doing that#theo is going to struggle post novel of course he is but i really do think he'll do a lot better#emotionally#and work through things#and it won't be perfect but it will be Good and boris won't be part of that and that is Okay that is For the Best#thank u
