@theoraekenapperciation 's theo week, day 5a: season 5
"Theodore," They called him, droning in and out of existence, barely there, speaking in mechanical buzzes and chirps.
He was almost as much machine as they were.
Theo never called them by their names, even if he knew them. They were the Surgeon, the Geneticist, and the Pathologist to him. (Not that anyone else knew them by the same names.)
"Yes?" He always replied, no matter the circumstance. No matter the emotion. They had none, therefore they could no longer understand them. Theo was a little more human than that.
The taps of the Surgeon's cane scared Theo. A whole lot, actually. Hearing it was never a good sign, no matter how nice the weather was outside.
Theo frequently watched them work. It was one of the only things he could do, from the ages of nine to sixteen. They traveled, they experinented, they killed, they traveled again. Blood, gore, and screams were the only constants in Theo's life.
Even then, when he was planning the creation of his pack, he watched. Observing each and every new chimera that came in, scanning them to see if they had what it took to be in his pack. To be worth the risk of bringing them back to life.
Because hey, all resurrected things come back wrong.
He watched as the Surgeon expertly opened a cavity into Josh Diaz's body, as the Geneticist handed him a vial of some glowing substance, as the Pathologist muffled Josh's half-awake screams. (Not that it was of any use. They were in an abandoned operating theatre in an underground sewer—no one was around for miles.)
The Geneticist and the Pathologist were like Theo. The Surgeon made them. Something that predated the chimeras by centuries—created by the Surgeon as both an experiment and want for a companion. It was abhorrent, how human they all were.
Stiles seemed to think that Theo had a choice in all of this, that he was the real ringleader. How Theo wished it was true. His first act of true rebellion led to half of his makeshift pack dead and him buried in some grimy fucking sewer. The Dread Doctors had ended up dead, too, but Theo wasn't sufficiently satisfied by how it happened.
As he sat in the cold, dreary morgue drawer, waiting for Tara, he imagined how much better it would've felt to kill the Dread Doctors himself.
And when Tara finally came, Theo told her that, "I wouldn't have done any of that shit to you if they never showed up."
