Foolish Katerina why would she believe anthing Isobel had to say? because of that vampire he was a step closer to breaking the curse and well get revenge on the courageous vampire. Klaus had a plan for the day he finally captured the runaway vampire, making him look like a fool for escaping and last almost 500 years and he ordered his warlork Maddox to release Elena he wouldn't need her. No one knew how he looked so why couldn't he pretend to be some new guy and use a southern accent? it wouldn't hurt but then it would be suspicious so he would watch from afar keeping eyes on the human doppelganger she would need to be alive in order to break the curse and be the hybrid he had seeked for centuries.
